Congratulations, Josiah and Christina
Palmer!
I’m going to leave most of the wedding
report to others to write about in their own Magi journals, since it’s really
late; and I just want to get this done and crash and nap for a while.
My day began with the breakfast shift at
the Inn; I worked late into the morning to help with cleaning rooms after the
main breakfast rush was finished; and then I helped out at home while also
getting ready for the wedding ceremony.
Michael and I needed to be at the church early; we helped out with the
music; and sang a duet while the wedding party was busy signing the usual paperwork
that makes a marriage official. The
ceremony was beautiful; Josiah and Christina are blissfully happy; and I won’t
get started on the issues that went along with a winter wedding when temperatures
were bitterly-cold – even during the afternoon.
After the ceremony; Michael and I needed to
rush over to the Inn and get back to work.
The Palmers and McEwans had the main dining room booked for the
reception; we had a full house between that party and the regular customers
that we squeezed into the small dining rooms until we ran out of space. I worked the wedding, and had a lot of fun
doing that; but we had hours of busy in the kitchen and dining rooms before the
wedding reception started; and then I didn’t stop working at all through until
a bit after nine-thirty except for a short break to grab a drink and snack with
Michael in between delivering the main course of the dinner and dessert. We were done serving dinner to the public by
nine; had the smaller dining rooms cleared out shortly after that; and then we
concentrated on the reception for the rest of the night. Josiah and Christina wrapped up their time at
the party with an hour-long blast of cameo visits with their guests; and then
they were on the road for their airport hotel by a bit after midnight.
The party started to wind down after that;
it was past-one by the time the proud parents thanked Miranda and Jacob and
headed home; and then it took us until a bit after two o’clock to get set up
for our next meal sitting on Sunday – and have the library ready for the
self-serve breakfast that our guests at the Inn will enjoy tomorrow – in a few
hours. We walked home; I said goodnight
to Michael outside of his house; and we made short work of that kiss and hug
because it was too cold to be outdoors as the negative temperatures are
dropping deep into the double digits tonight.
Everyone here has long-since been sleeping; and I didn’t even check in
on the twins on my way up to bed. I got
changed; into bed with Mandy; and have only done the basic bedtime computing.
This doesn’t sound like a very exciting
report when it’s been such a brilliant day for some of our favorite people, but
a lot of people need to do the work that goes into a successful wedding and
reception; and I’m okay with being on the work side of these big events now and
then. Michael and I are going to be on
the work side of the New Year’s Eve day fun at the Inn too; which is why I
should be sleeping by now. For more of
the fun details of the wedding, check out the journals for the happy couple and
other Magi in their families, and while you do that; I’ll get started on my
nap.
Until next time...
...May the Magi Force be with you!
