Cassie's Journal - March 31, 2018

The warmest part of our day happened this morning – which worked out great for the fourth annual Eater Egg Hunt at the park.  It’s cooled down steadily since late-morning; and, weird as it is to report; we’re supposed to get a couple of inches of snow for Easter!

Well, it’s also April Fool’s Day tomorrow; so maybe the forecasters are just playing a prank on us!  I’ll let you know with the next update.

For this one, though, I’m going to keep it short because I’m exhausted and need to get to the nap as soon as possible – especially when I need to be awake early at to the church for the sunrise service.  Michael and I got up early this morning; I worked the early half of the breakfast shift; went on to the park from there for the Easter Egg Hunt; and had a blast doing that with all of my siblings, cousins, and some of their friends.  Thousands of eggs were hidden and found; all of the kids scored at least one prize; and I had some bonus play time after the hunt before going back to the Inn for the lunch shift.

I had an afternoon break with Michael, but pretty much worked the rest of the day – including some help cleaning rooms with Miranda and Stephanie.  Michael and I worked the dinner-to-close shift; that took longer because of getting the library stocked for Sunday morning and the self-serve breakfast – even though all of the guest will likely also be at the church breakfast too; and then I came home and played Eater Bunny with Mom and Dad after saying goodnight to Michael outside of his house on the way here.  That last bit of Easter fun was great; I came up to bed; and had a quick shower while multi-tasking a quick bedtime computer check that is ending with this update now that I’m tucked into bed with Mandy.

This update doesn’t nearly-cover the fun and work today, but it’s all I have in me; so I’m just going to wrap it up now and get to the sleeping part of my day.

Until next time...

Cassie's Journal - March 30, 2018

Happy 23rd Birthday, Jake!
Happy 17th Birthday, Shannon!

Celebrating birthdays on Good Friday really doesn’t work very well in a town like ours, but we did have gifts for Michael’s brother and our friend; and a low-key birthday lunch for Jake after the Good Friday service at the church.

We also had a good, if quiet start to our day; Tai Chi was chilly, but by the river; and I was at Michael’s for breakfast before we headed over to church early because we were helping out with the music for the service.  As always, the Good Friday service was solemn and the crucifixion story is a horror; but that’s also toned down to be kid-friendly; and it is also one of the shortest services of the year because there is no major sermon; and the Pastors want us to internalize what the cross should mean for us.

I’m not going to sermonize here either, and as with everything else about our relationship with God; the Easter story is very different for Magi Masters because of our connection with God that isn’t about faith because it’s as real and more-tangible to us than every other relationship we have with the living world.  I can’t ‘prove’ that to anyone, but it is still true; and that just makes holidays like Easter and Christmas that much more-special for me.

Relationships were what today was all about for me too.  The family and freinds time is what Easter is all about when you think about it.  For Good Friday, that’s about one sacrifice that was made for the rest of us; but we can care for each other in a lot of ways.  Sometimes, that’s in service of any kind, but sharing the love and joy that we’re meant to have in our lives is just as important – and I did that a lot today!  Jake’s birthday lunch was the start of that, but then Michael and I played all afternoon with our families – including some biking and park play time; we had dinner at my house; and we’re having a play evening with our friends that is going to include a sofa sleepover for us after we’re done with the movie and gaming parts of our night.  We may have four junior campers in the lounge with us – or they may decide to stay in Ethan’s and Ehlana’s rooms.  I’ll have to keep you posted on that.  Right now, though, I’ve just been taking a break between movies; did the basic bedtime computer checks; and now I’m ready for the next show – and my sofa sleepover.

We have the annual Easter Egg Hunt in the morning, so we aren’t going to stay up too late tonight, but we’re also not ready to wrap up the fun quite yet – and I may spend a bit of time playing with Michael if we don’t have a room full of kids with us all night too.  That would be great, but the odds might be low; so I won’t get too-excited about that idea – and then hope for the best! ;^)

Either way, I need to get back to playing with the twins and our friends now; so, until next time...

Cassie's Journal - March 29, 2018

We had a good last day of the school week; I worked the dinner-to-close shift at the Inn; that was later than normal for a Thursday night for Michael and me because we took care of getting the library set up for the self-serve breakfast our weekend guests will have in the morning while the Inn is closed for Good Friday; and then I went home with Michael for a while – and nearly ended u having an unplanned sofa sleepover before managing to come home because I had things to do before we’ll need to be at the church in the morning for the Good Friday service.

Uncle Adam, Aunt Leanne, Uncle Nick, and Aunt Deborah all have visiting family with them this weekend and tonight, but we don’t; so it’ll be quiet around our house this weekend – at least by comparison to other family homes.  I needed to get ready for the church service and do a last computer check before taking the weekend off; I’ve done both; and now I need to crash and nap while I can.  Even without family here with us, we’re still going to be very busy; and I want to be ready for all of the work and fun we’ll be having.

Again, that’s weird to be thinking fun heading into Good Friday, but it’s still true; so I’ll stick with that description and move along – to nap mode!

Until next time...

Cassie's Journal - March 28, 2018

I am not filing any complaints with Mother Nature, since we haven’t been home from our holiday in Arizona for long; but I am going to suggest that weather forecasters should get paid based on accuracy – and we, the people – should get to determine how accurate they are!

We’ve now had two days in a row with the actual temperatures falling quite a bit short of what was forecast; and it’s a bit annoying to plan for sixty-degree temperatures; and get something in the forties instead.  We don’t get A’s in our classes if we only get seventy percent on the tests – or less.  I’ll guess that forecasting would improve if the meteorologists start getting paid based on their current accuracy each week or even per day.  I know that’ll never actually happen; but my point is just that I’m again amazed at how much money gets dumped into weather forecasting when we have farmers around here that can give you more-accurate predictions – and they’ll generally be happy to do that over a coffee and bakery treat!

Maybe I should just start my own weather website and do that – for just a few dollars a day! ;^)

Moving along, though it was cool around here today and we got some rain here and there; I was indoors most of the day; and only got rained on a bit on the way home from school.  We had a work day; I worked in the office after getting home and through until Mom, Dad, and the twins were finished their work and studying; and we even had dinner in the office – since we just went with pizza and wings.  I needed to get all of my work for the rest of the week finished tonight; which is why I continued to work and study after coming up to bed.  I’m done a bit earlier than the last couple of nights, but I’ve also done a lot more time-phasing; so I’m even more-exhausted now.  The work is done, though, and I wrapped up my current language studies; so I’ll start a new one next week.

We’ve only got one more school day ahead of the holiday weekend, and we’ll have more family time thanks to the holidays, but we’re also going to be very busy with the extra church services; so I’d better get to sleep and rest up as much as I can before we’ll be busy with all of the Easter holiday fun.  I should re-phrase that, since I don’t think of the Good Friday part of this weekend as fun, but I’m tired; so cut me some slack on the inaccuracy – and we will still have a good day with our family and friends even on one of the most-solemn days of the year.

I’ll need afternoon naps this weekend if I don’t get all of the sleep I can when that’s an option, though, and I’m just rambling now anyway; so, until next time...

Cassie's Journal - March 27, 2018

Cool, sometimes wet day; lots of fun at school; a busy band practice; a quiet dinner at home with Michael and my family; and an extended teen praise team practice took up most of my day.  Michael and I had to do our homework after we were done at the church; Mom did a Magi lesson with us; and then Michael went home while I came up to my room and got started on my family business work and language studies.

Including the time-phasing, that was way too many hours ago; which is why that’s all I have for tonight; and now I’m going to crash and nap for a little while until it’ll be time to get up and going again.

It’s been fun, but I’ve definitely hit the proverbial wall with a loud splat; so, until next time...
