Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - Novmber 30, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

Our last day of November has been fun – and not very newsworthy.  While it got a bit warmer today, we still kept our Tai Chi indoors; and stayed inside for most of the day too.  As usual right now, academic adventures included new lessons and one music practice with one of the primary grades; and the top gossip stories of the day revolved around the parade tomorrow night or the shopping trip on Saturday.  We had our four best friends with us when we came home from school; had a long band practice that included a bonus blast of music fun going over the songs that we’ll be playing with the school band tomorrow night.  We also did a snack break with Mom before the music fun; and then Ehlana and I helped out with making dinner after our friends headed out to their homes.

The evening entertainment was at the Inn for game night, and while we had a lot of fun with our family and friends; it was also a bit on the quiet side with a low turnout after the holiday weekend.  Mom didn’t let us do work tonight after getting home because of our extensive weekend plans, so bath or Jacuzzi time followed shortly-after our return home.  Now we’re winding down with the usual computing and twin chat time; and we’ll get a good night of sleep too.  That’s also pretty much all we have for now; so we’ll wrap this up and move on to that nap time!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 29, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 23rd Birthday, Rowen!

We had a visit with Rowen, delivered a gift, and wished her the best; and left the rest of her birthday fun to Tim, Cassie, Michael, and the rest of her family and friends.  Cassie and Michael are still hosting her party that included a special dinner; and we hope that Rowen is having a lot of fun!

Our day has been quiet by comparison.  Tai Chi was indoors; breakfast was standard school-day fare; and our academic adventures are mostly all about lessons for all of the new modules we’ll be busy with until the Christmas break.  We played at the lab or archives after school; our evening has included an easy-meal with Mom and Dad, work in the office, and a Magi lesson.  Bath or Jacuzzi time followed the work; and now we’re wrapping up the usual bedtime twin chat and computing.  We’ve had a happy day and got a lot done, but can’t offer any major news; so we’ll just move on and get started on our nap time now.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 28, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

The top news for today is the Moms’ Christmas shopping trip to the city.  For some reason, we aren’t being offered any of the best details from the day; and Mom didn’t want our help with unloading the truck and minivan.  While we missed out on all of that fun, we did get to go along for the breakfast buffet at the Inn; some of our favorite Dads opted for a group Pizzeria pizza dinner; and then Ehlana and I had a quiet work evening in the office with Dad until Mom got home from the city.  We should mention that Cassie went along on the trip while Michael stayed home and worked and took care of some chores.  Compared to that, our school day was a blast, and in addition to the school band practice; we also had primary-grade practices to go along with the academic adventures as we continue to get ready for the Christmas concert.  The weather was a bit warmer today, but not enough for extra outdoor time; so we stayed indoors for most of the day.

You’ll need to check out other journals for the best news of the day, since we’ve only heard that our favorite shoppers enjoyed a couple of fast food meals and did a lot of ‘none-of-your-business-what-for’ shopping!  Okay, they likely won’t have details there either; since we’d be able to read all about that too, but why let facts get in the way of our jokes?  We don’t really have much to add to our story.  We eventually had a bedtime snack and chat with Mom and Dad; Mom is tired; and she’s winding down with some quality Jacuzzi time while we’re wrapping up our day with the usual computing and twin chat time.  Getting some sleep is next on our to-do list, and that really is all we have; so we’ll go and do that now!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 27, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

Thanksgiving might be in our past, but Christmas is in the air!  Our academic adventures included music practices with primary grades and the start of new learning modules; we went to play at the lab or archives between school and dinner; and then our friends came over for a band practice; Mom did a group Magi lesson with us; and we multi-tasked that blast of fun with decorating our tree!  There was not any office work after our friends headed home because Mom had the Moms’ Christmas shopping trip in the morning; so she didn’t want to be up late!

We can work with that, and could use the extra sleep anyway; so that’s all for this report!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 26, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

Thanks to weather forecasting that kept changing, the surprise for many of us this morning was having a bit of snow on the ground, and while it wasn’t a lot; there was enough to require a light round of shoveling before breakfast – and after Tai Chi that needed to be indoors because of the white, fluffy stuff.  Getting our gang of girls and tweens fed and ready for church kept us busy the rest of the time before we had parental support for rides to the church; and then the teen-led holiday service was awesome!

For an ‘away’ family holiday weekend, this was one of our busiest, and that non-stop action continued after church as we helped out with getting kids packed and ready to head home before we all headed to the Inn for the first buffet of the day at noon.  Miranda and Stephanie had a full house for that sitting – and probably all of them today – and that was at least partly due to the overnight snow even though it has been sunny for most of today and the snow melted off of the roads fairly-quickly.  Holiday traffic can be a mess even on good days, though; so the only exceptions to early departures were for grandparents that wanted to spend a bit of extra time with hometown grandkids.  Our early main meal of the day was amazing; we wrapped up early to make room for the next round of customers; and the goodbyes outside of the Inn were fairly-quick and entertaining.

Ehlana and I brought Naomi, Aiden, Sophia, and Aaron home with us so that we could do a band practice, and we had a lot of fun with that too, but then our friends needed to move on to help out with their own families and home chores; we worked with Mom to do the same here; and Dad spent the rest of his day in the office.  We had a leftovers dinner that was more of a snack; kept at the work including some family business work in the office and a Magi lesson with Mom; and now we’ve just wrapped up bath or Jacuzzi time and plan on an early bedtime to catch up on the sleep we didn’t get over the past couple of nights.

We haven’t covered the rest of the story from yesterday, but let’s make that quick; and then we really need to move on to some quality nap time.  Sebastian’s birthday dinner was a mix of good and bad fun; Zack and Eli were next-level scary pretty much the entire time we were there; and I am very glad that Naomi, Ehlana, and Sophia made exceptions for their favorite boys and let us stay with them; since I really didn’t want to deal with that kind of fun for the rest of the night.  Uncle Nick and Aunt Deborah were proof that I was right about that by this morning; and that was true to some extent for the rest of the adults that spent the weekend with them – especially the parents with toddlers that didn’t get enough sleep because of the all-night video gaming and partying.  Compared to that, helping out with the work around our house and keeping the girls supplied with drinks and snacks during the movies and mini-makeovers was a breeze; the later-evening co-ed cuddling and movie time was awesome; and then the co-ed sofa or ‘nest’ sleepovers kept us happy all night! ;^)

That’s quick-enough – though we should add that Sebastian loved his gifts; the usual birthday fun around dinner and dessert partially made up for the games and pranks; and we have been assured that our aunt and uncle will be very happy if they don’t have to do another holiday weekend birthday party for their son ever again!  That might be wishful thinking, since his birthday will be on the holiday weekend again in just four years, but maybe they’re hoping that he’ll have a girlfriend by then to host the party for him – or send him away for a special birthday-holiday weekend!

We might be interested in chaperoning a trip like that if it was to somewhere good in four years, but that’s a happy thought for another time – or in our dreams; so we’re done with this update and moving on to nap time starting right now!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
