Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 9, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 22nd Birthday, Jillian!

Happy 8th Birthday, David Burroughs!

We didn’t personally have anything to do with Jillian’s birthday – though Mom had a visit with her while we were at school.  David got a little gift and best wishes from us while at school; we know that Brianna and Faith had a gift for him too; and he had a boys-only party after school – as usual for the kids their age.  Julian is probably still hosting a party for Jillian too, but while they are likely having a lot of fun; we won’t need most of the details for the best parts of their day!

As mentioned yesterday, the weather cool-down has arrived, and while we can’t complain about highs in the fifties; we did still feel the fifteen to twenty degrees drop from the recent highs.  While some of our friends still went out biking after school, we played at the lab or archives; we followed that up with dinner at home; and then game night at the Inn was the entertainment highlight of our day.  We didn’t win any titles for the family this week, but we shouldn’t be able to do that regularly anyway; and having fun with our families and friends is what we love about the weekly outing – even if most tweens elsewhere in the country would find it boring.

Taking Silkie for a walk and seeing our best friends to their homes was next on our to-do list after we left the Inn.  We had fun with that too; and then we had a Magi lesson with Mom and did a bit of time-phased work in the office because Dad needed to get some work done and we helped out with the Magi power for that time phase as part of our lesson and practice.

Now we’re winding down toward nap time with the usual twin chat and bedtime computing.  Our school day wasn’t newsworthy in any way – just standard lessons and one test; so that’s pretty much all we have for our story.  Cassie and Michael are literally working their way west across Argentina and driving between stops for meetings and site visits with local business partners and charities.  They’ll be fitting in cameo sightseeing visits along the way, but this leg of their trip really will be more work than play.  We should mention that they are in an area of Argentina where the weather is normal springtime for temperatures and activity, so while that is warmer than here today; it is comfortable instead of hot the way it was in northern Brazil.  For just a few added specifics, Cassie and Michael worked in the Junin area today after driving there last night following their second work day in the Buenos Aires area.  That was around a three hundred kilometer drive; and they did another drive that long tonight while moving on to Vicuna Mackenna.  They’ll work there and in the Cordoba province area tomorrow; and then rinse-and-repeat the evening drive plan.  They are definitely having more fun than we are even with all of the long work and travel days; and we love how much good they are doing along the way – especially when that helps a lot with off-setting all of the bad that the Thorne family inflicts on South America.

That’s enough for tonight and we really are ready to get some sleep; so we’ll do that starting right now.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
