Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - January 31, 2019

Ethan:

Game night at the Inn was the only change in our daily routine; our evening work and studying happened after that; and now I’m exhausted and just want to crash – so I will.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

I’ve got some reading that I want to get done now, but don’t have any news for today either; so I’ll just get to that – and then move on to my nap once I’m caught up on all of the latest reports from the lab.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - January 30, 2019

Ethan:

We’re almost to the end of the month; and it’s winding down with a bit of a yawn – which is also what I’m doing while writing this.

Take the past two days; rinse and repeat; and that’s all I have for tonight.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

Ditto that for me – except I’ll add once again that I wish we had an indoor pool here at home too.

I’ll try not to mention that every time we hear about Cassie’s play time at the rec center pool; but won’t make any promises. ;^)

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - January 29, 2019

Ethan:

How quiet is it here in our little town?  We’re not even getting the really bad winter weather that’s happening elsewhere and getting so much attention with the snow and record-setting cold temperatures!

No, it’s just another Tuesday around here.  We had a good day at school; Ehlana and I pretty much repeated our Monday from after school play time at the lab through dinner with the parents and a work and study evening in the office.  Now we’re in our beds, and I’m ready to get started on my nap time a bit early thanks to the extra time phasing while studying earlier; so I’ll wrap this up and get to that.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

I’ll only add that Mom spent some time tonight directing some family business resources into areas in need due to that snow and cold.  We don’t write about that much in our journals, but while we help out all around the world; we still do lots of charity work here at home too; and there’s often as much need for the aid during winter storms as in the aftermath of Hurricanes or other disasters that usually get more attention in the news.

This will sound cynical, but it’s so hard to boost ratings when the reporters are so bundled-up that you can’t even see their faces – or there’s nothing to see at all through the snow!

It has been, by the way, cold around here too, and we do get snow, but that’s only been normal winter sort of weather – nothing shocking.  I don’t want to make light of bad weather or extreme cold either, since they really can be as-bad as extreme heat or tropical-based storms, but I do think that the hype gets to be too-much in the news; and we should all be prepared for dealing with the weather conditions where we live – even when they reach the extremes.  I’m glad that we’re taught to be self-sufficient – and I mean that ‘we’ to be all of the kids in our community; not just those of us with a few special, extreme talents.  It amazes me every time I hear or read stories about kids – and even young adults – that have never been taught even basic life skills.

Call me old-fashioned, but I think that everyone should learn how to change a light bulb! ;^)

Okay, I’m droning on now for no reason, so I’ll wrap this up and get to sleep too.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - January 28, 2019

Ethan:

We’ve had a quiet, normal Monday; Ehlana and I played at the lab after school; and we had a work and study night with Mom and Dad after dinner.  A time phase was involved with the work in the office, so we’re all in bed early, but we’ve also had a long day too; so I’m just going to crash and nap – starting right now.

Ehlana:

I don’t have any news from home either, but will offer my take on some news from Cassie.

On the friends’ side of her college adventure, Serena found out today that she made their women’s baseball team – an accomplishment for any freshman.  I’m mentioning that because Cassie, Rowen, Michael, and Tim could all play college sports if they wanted to do that, but aren’t; since they need to focus on their education – especially when Cassie’s plan is already tough.  They’ll get to find out just how tough sports can be through their friend, and while I’m sure that all of the travel and fun is brilliant; there would be no way for any of us to add in all of that extra work for sports and keep up with Cassie’s double workload – or at least that wouldn’t be possible without the Professors becoming suspicious over how anyone could keep up with everything without cheating.

Next up, Cassie had more trouble of the annoying kind again today thanks to Philippe.  That’s going to end badly for him if he doesn’t stop soon, since even Cassie and Michael have their limits; and Cassie’s patience is definitely running out.

I’ll try to be nice and hope that he doesn’t find out how bad an idea it is to mess with one of the Ninja girls – for now!

Finally, I wish that we had an Olympic-sized indoor pool to swim in here at home!  Cassie, Michael, Rowen, and Tim have started doing an early-morning swim at the rec center with some of their friends so that Rowen and Tim can get some alternate exercise during the winter when they can’t do the biking they like to do the rest of the year.  We rarely get to swim during the winter – unless we’re at a hotel with an indoor pool or during our few winter-time vacations.  When I get to college; I might decide to go swimming every day all winter – or maybe even think about signing up for the diving team; since they have an awesome diving tower too!

Okay, that’s all for tonight.  We’ve had a good day even if it has been quiet and uneventful; and it seems that we may be waiting until the end of the week before the Valentine’s Day fun starts kicking up a notch or three around here – even if some of the fun for kids our age comes from watching the teen and tween drama; or the inevitable weird from some of the guys our age.

It’s time for me to get some sleep too, so I’ll move on now; and get to that nap.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - January 27, 2019

Ethan:

Multiple sleepovers on one weekend works out great for the kids!  Naomi’s Dad was in charge of dinner – and we were all happy with the Pizzeria pizza and Olde Bakery desserts!  Naomi’s Mom had a long day at the salon; which had a lot to do with why she fell asleep during the first movie of the night; and then we – the kids – were on our own to watch shows and then eventually go to bed whenever we wanted – as long as we still got up on time for breakfast and church; and didn’t complain about being too-tired for anything.

That isn’t usually ever a problem for Ehlana or me; but we still managed to get to sleep before midnight after having a really fun evening.

Aiden’s parents and sister came over for breakfast this morning; we had fun at church and Sunday school; and then Naomi and Aiden had family time for the rest of the day; so Ehlana and I went to play at the lab after having lunch with Mom and Dad.  Mom came along to play while Dad got his weekend work done; we had a quiet dinner for four after the work-play afternoon; and didn’t have much of anything going on tonight other than a Magi lesson and watching a bit of television before coming upstairs for the night.  I only grabbed a shower tonight, but Ehlana’s in her Jacuzzi; and there’s a good chance that I’ll be sleeping before she gets out.

We’ve had a good weekend, if a quiet one, but we’ll get busier now as we head into February.  Valentine’s Day will be part of that, but Cassie’s birthday is coming up too; and we may even get to visit our favorite collegians if we can fit that into the schedule between now and when they’ll be home for spring break.

That’s all I have for tonight, though, so I’ll go get some sleep now; and let Ehlana take over with her news, thoughts, or whatever else she had for us tonight.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

I love my Jacuzzi! ;^)

Have I mentioned that lately?

Yes, but that’s still my thought for the day; and I don’t have anything to add to Ethan’s report; so I’m just going to get back to enjoying the hot, soothing, bubbly fun for one in my tub.
