Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 31, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 43rd Birthday, Patricia Emerson!

This update is early and we don’t have time for much because we’re just home long-enough to change and then head out for some biking and play time with our friends.  After that, we’ve been booked for babysitting while some of our favorite parents are at Patricia’s birthday dinner-party; so we might not end up with any time for computing later tonight.  You can get the rest of our news from today with our next report, though, so all we really have for our day-so-far is that we had a good morning with Mom and Dad; our academic adventures weren’t newsworthy; and now we’re just getting to the best parts of our day that will included enjoying the mid-fifties warmth while playing with our friends, a Pizzeria pizza dinner with friends and cousins, and a babysitting-play evening that we’ll be doing with our four best friends.

Now it is time to get moving again, grab our bikes, and meet up with our friends; so we’re out of here!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 30, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

I should switch up with Ethan for the days when we don’t have much news to report; since a short update is definitely going to happen for us tonight – though he’d likely make his version even-shorter starting with skipping this opening comment!

We had a good day at school; opted for playing at the lab or archives after that because this has likely been the coolest day of the week and we’ll save up the play time with our friends for the warmer days.  Mom worked with us for a late dinner, so we spent about three hours with our beakers or books; we shared that meal with Mom and Dad and then took care of the clean-up; and then we’ve had another work evening with only a short Magi lesson.  While we’ve had fun with the work-play time all day, we also don’t really have any local news to offer; so let’s offer a quick Cassie and Michael update; and call it a night.

Our favorite world travelers have been busy with their Wednesday work day and they have some play time planned too, but their top news of the day might be the hotter temperatures in the Broome area that are on-par with our hottest summer days here at home.  Their high for the day for the ‘feels like’ temperature will be around one-hundred and fifteen is a bit warmer than we’d like, but they’ve had time to get used to summer-like heat; so they’ll be okay – and happy to enjoy some outdoor time to go along with the meetings and the rest of their work.  This stage of their trip will have an even mix of charity and business meetings and project site visits, and with that kind of heat; we’ll expect to hear at least one or two stories about swimming and possibly a bit of beach play time too.

We’ll keep you posted on their travels as we get more information, but their west coast time difference is affecting our chat times with them; so our last couple of vid-calls have been short and fit into their work schedules so far this week.  That is enough for tonight, and we’re ready to get some sleep; so we’re out of here and off to dreamland soon.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 29, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

The warm-up to the mid-fifties today is our news highlight for this report.  Sure, that’s chilly compared to the weather that Cassie and Michael are enjoying in Perth, and they are expecting a high for their Tuesday in the nineties, but they are also working more than playing; so we may have had as much fun here at home with our friends.  Okay, that’s wishful thinking, but we have had a good day; and are happy as we’re winding down toward nap time tonight.

Tai Chi was indoors this morning because it was still a bit below freezing first thing this morning.  Mom opted for a hot breakfast, so we enjoyed that; and then our school day was busy as we started new learning modules as we moved on from the week of tests or high school mid-terms.  The weather had everything to do with our choice to play with our friends this afternoon, and while many of the park trails were too-soft to ride on, the main trails are in decent shape; and we biked around town, at the park, and out on the trail toward Quarry Lake for a couple of miles too.  We came home in time for dinner with Mom and Dad; enjoyed that meal with them too; and then took care of the clean-up before joining them in the office for an evening of family business and charity work and a Magi lesson.  Time phasing was involved to keep up with what we wanted to get done tonight, but we’ll also mention that Mom wants us to cut back on doing that a bit so that we don’t mess up the growth spurts that Ethan and I are dealing with now – and over the next two or three years.  Ethan doesn’t mind the idea of keeping up with Naomi on the growth chart, but we mostly just have fun with that, since we know that Naomi won’t really get very far ahead of us before we catch up and at least one of us passes her along the way to our adult heights.

We don’t really have anything that we need to write about for Cassie and Michael’s adventures in the Perth area, but they are getting a lot done; the business deals are more-focused on natural resources and sustainable projects for mining, fishing, farming, and more; and the charity projects include more work with indigenous peoples and other groups that w are really happy to be developing new partnerships with over the coming years.  Cassie and Michael will be moving on to the Broone-Derby area on their Wednesday; so stay tuned for the latest on their adventures while we move on and wrap up this report.

That’s pretty much all we have for tonight, but I can’t resist offering a couple of comments on news from the weekend.  The bigger story is from the Middle East, and I waited to offer comments until more information came out on the attack on a base on the border between Syria and Jordan – on the Jordan side.  It is horrid that three American troops were killed and nearly three-dozen more injured in the drone attack, and we wish that hadn’t happened – just as we wish that none of the fighting was happening at all.  We are also worried that this will lead to even more escalation of the fighting in the area, though, and pray that cooler heads will prevail on both sides.  We have enough problems here at home without adding multi-front wars to the mix.

That leads us to the ‘Take Our Border Back’ convoy and rally that is just starting to become a big story.  Let’s all hope that it will be a peaceful rally and protest; since tensions are very high and it is a safe bet that there are at least some people on both sides of the issues that would like to see the rally go badly.  For the record, we are on the ‘secure borders’ side of that political fight, but then we also believe that our country needs to stop intervening in other countries in ways that lead to the desperation that motivates millions to attempt fleeing to our country – or to Europe and elsewhere.

We’ll keep you posted on that story as needed – or not, but that’s all for tonight and we are ready to crash and nap starting right now – so we will!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 28, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

We’re going with an early bedtime ahead of our last few school days of the month; and I am going to do my best to keep this update short.  Tai Chi and breakfast with Mom and Dad made for a good start to our day; we had fun at church and Sunday school; and then Ethan and I opted to play at the lab or archives this afternoon instead of hanging out with our friends.  We got a lot done with our beakers or books; came home in time for dinner with Mom and Dad; and then our evening has only included a Magi lesson, some quiet hang-out time with Mom and Dad; and bath or Jacuzzi time.  Now we’re pretty much ready to crash and nap, and that is an option; so we’re going to do that starting right now!

Is that short-enough for you?” ;^)

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 27, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

***RESTRICTED UPDATE***

It is Sunday for Cassie and Michael; and we have a nearly-complete story for their post-fight work to recover Sabre’s fortune from the wreckage of his yacht.  While his evil deeds might not reach the levels of the biggest Dark Magi families, Cassie and Michael estimate that they’ve recovered tens of millions of dollars worth of precious metals and gems, and expect that there was much more that they won’t be able to access through banks and other options that might even include physical treasure hoards.  We will use what they have recovered for our charities and businesses, and that will at least be some good; since Sabre didn’t even try to take the opportunity to save his soul.

Cassie and Michael will include all of the details surrounding their confrontation with Sabre, but we’ll mention that he was along on his yacht on Friday night while his small crew was on shore leave.  Cassie and Michael will be out of the area before they return; and that won’t be a problem for them once the wreck is found.  Let’s also mention that Cassie and Michael shielded the area around them during the fight and the destruction of the yacht; so nobody in the area saw anything; and they ‘dissuaded’ anyone from wandering along that part of the coast while busy with their Magi-powered treasure recovery mission.  Check out their archives for the rest of the story; and that’s all we have for this part of their Australian adventure.

***END OF RESTRICTED UPDATE***

Ethan and I are having a quiet evening here at home, and since we stayed up a bit too-late last night while hanging out with our friends; an early night with extra sleep works for us too.  We had an awesome night at Naomi’s house last night!  We cooked up a pasta and sides storm with Naomi’s Dad; he took a dinner order over to Liz and Vicky; and then we enjoyed that meal – even with Zack and Eli adding in some of their kind of fun; we took care of the clean-up; and then the boys played video games for a while before we had our band practice.  Zack and Eli did not want to even try messing with us while we practiced Valentine’s Day themed songs – especially the ballads, but Philip enjoyed the entertainment; and Liz got home in time to dance with him for a couple of those ballads that we played especially for them.  There was more video gaming for the guys after we packed up our gear while the girls in the house had some chat time in the kitchen; and then we – the tweens and teens – took over the living room for our movies while Zack and Eli stayed in the family room and continued their gaming.

They still made time to annoy and prank us too, but we mostly ignored them; they got bored with the attempts; and left us alone by sometime after midnight.  We loved the co-ed cuddling and chat time that went along with our movies, and as already mentioned; we stayed up too-late – though not as slate as Zack and Eli did; since they were still half-awake and playing video games when we got up this morning for Tai Chi.  They didn’t stay awake until breakfast was ready, so we had a quieter meal with Naomi’s parents; and then we took care of the clean-up before getting to work on chores at a handful of homes.  Sophia and Aaron moved on then to do that work at their own houses, but Ethan, Aiden, and I worked with Naomi as a crew and we moved from house-to-house while getting our collective chores lists finished.  Our house was the last stop; we had lunch with Mom and Dad at around one o’clock; and then we were set free to play for the afternoon.  It didn’t really get all that warm today – barely above forty, but that was still enough for us to go biking around town; we did a bit of shopping and had a snack break at the Galleria; and we had some hang-out time with some friends we collected along the way.

We all had our own plans for dinner and the evening, so we split up in time for us to help Mom with another round of cooking.  That meal was much-quieter than the one at the Seager’s house last night, but we enjoyed that time with Mom and Dad.  They had their work finished for the day by the time we cleaned up from that meal; so Mom and Dad joined us for a movie in the lounge; we followed that up with bath or Jacuzzi time; and now we’re winding down toward nap time with the usual twin chat and computer checks.  Cassie and Michael are enjoying their Sunday with a mix of just a bit of work and some coastal sightseeing to the south-west of Melbourne.  They’ll be back at their hotel in the city for their Sunday night; and will fly to Perth in southwestern Australia on their Monday morning.  That’s going to make for a very long start to their next work week because they’ll be ‘gaining’ three time zones; so their four hours and change flight will have them arriving in Perth an hour or so later in local time.  That’s why they are traveling in the morning instead of on their Sunday; since they’ll be in Perth in time to go straight to work from the airport.  We’ll have more on that as their adventures continue, but they’ll be spending next week working their way up the west coast of Australia; and they’ll have more business deals related to natural resources and clean energy projects along the way.  They have charity projects in many of those areas too, but most of them are smaller – or integrally-linked with business deals.

Moving along, world news continues to be a challenge for us to keep up with when there seems to be few signs of any leaders trying to calm the tensions in any of the hot spots.  Sure, one of the international courts semi-ordered Israel to ensure the safety of civilians while fighting Hamas, but there isn’t any real indications that they will comply; since there probably won’t be any consequences for the leaders anyway.  That dubious bit of ‘good’ news has also been offset by growing tensions in Africa; and the last thing the world needs is more war!  I am not going to get into a rant about Ukraine or the rest of the tensions happening around the Middle East; since I might not get much sleep if I go there – even if I used a time phase to do it.  We’ll keep praying for peace – and be ready to help out with our family businesses and charities to do what we can when that doesn’t happen.  Let’s add that getting help to those hardest-hit areas of the world is a serious challenge, but we do what we can; and accept our limitations.

Speaking of limitations; some future readers might wonder why Cassie and Michael don’t make their own travel priorities those world hot spots instead of generally-peaceful countries.  The simple answer is that they can’t do enough good in those war zones to take on the risks.  For example, they could get into Gaza if they wanted to do that and couldn’t be stopped, but what good could they do then?  Sure, they could use their Magi talents to shield civilians from a handful of bombs, but that would only last until they exhausted themselves; and then they’d likely just end up getting killed for no real gain.  We don’t need to offer other scenarios for this – the bottom line is that we – the Magi of the Light – are not powerful-enough to stop wars, natural disasters, or any other problem on those scales.  Maybe we will be that strong sometime in the future, but as we’ve mentioned before, we do what we can; and try to stay confident that we are heading toward a much brighter future.

Ethan really wants our immediate future to be a bit darker – as in lights out and dark-enough for sleeping; so I’ll go along with that and wrap this up.  Stay tuned for more, since as we head into the last few days of the month; we’re also going to get some warmer weather that we definitely plan on enjoying with our friends whenever we can over the next week or so.  With a bit of luck, maybe we’ll even get to stay warmer at least through until Valentine’s Day – though whatever the weather brings; we’ll still have a lot of warm and happy fun with our favorite Valentines!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
