Ehlana and Ethan:
Happy 1st Birthday, Nolan Ryan!
I need to start this update with a semi-clarification, since our school week started with a day off; and I just never really feel as though we’re having a ‘real’ long weekend for Martin Luther King Day. Dad also went to the city today – along with Anna Marie – because they had work set up that wasn’t dealt with in a courtroom. We don’t mention it very often, but Dad’s work in the city is only around fifty percent or so at court while the rest is dealt with through private negotiations or legal issues with other government agencies. Getting back to my point, we didn’t have school today, but Ethan and I spent time working at the lab; we spent the rest of the day with our best friends and stayed indoors; and then we had a quiet evening with Mom that included dinner for three, a Magi lesson, and what is soon going to be an early bedtime.
We also started our day with seeing Dad out on his trip; Cassie and Michael stopped by for a quick goodbye when they headed to the airport; and we won’t have any news for them until they get to Australia on Wednesday morning local time – Tuesday afternoon here at home. We also have Mandy with us for the first week or so because she decided to go with company and warmer homes instead of staying at her own home. We’ll be sharing her with Brianna and Faith while Cassie and Michael are gone; so we’ll keep you posted on Mandy’s adventures too – if she wakes from her regular naps now and then to have any fun!
We didn’t have anything to do with Nolan’s birthday beyond sending a group gift, but with the day off from school; his parents were able to spend the day with him. While on that note, we should mention that our favorite collegians are back at school – though the holiday is a day off from classes while attending related events on-campus are highly-recommended. Let’s again mention that we don’t have any MLK events here at home, and while we have history lessons; this just isn’t a big story here and probably never will be in the future. People in other places might take that the wrong way, but then those same people probably wouldn’t believe that we just don’t have racial issues here because we don’t even think about anyone based on skin color or ethnicity. That is especially-true for Magi, since regardless of what others might see; we’re descendants of Magi from Asia, Europe, Africa, and elsewhere from long-before anyone cared about those kinds of social issues – as in before the people of the world were scattered and so many different languages developed around the world.
I don’t want to go on about that – and Ethan definitely doesn’t want to drag this out; so let’s move on. Ethan had a fun rest-of-the-night with Naomi, and the ‘we’ I mentioned for seeing Dad off to the city was actually Aiden and me. Ethan and Naomi got to see Cassie and Michael too, but that was a drive-by visit and not with Mom, Aiden, and me. The four of us got together after breakfast and some chores at two houses; we spent the morning hanging out through until after lunch; and then Ethan and I did the lab thing on our own while Naomi and Aiden each headed for their homes to spend some time with their own families for the rest of the day. We played at the lab or archives until dinnertime; got home early-enough to help with the cooking; and enjoyed that food break with Mom before moving on to the clean-up, the Magi lesson, and only a bit of family business work. We’ve had a happy evening and don’t really have any news to add that is very interesting; and that’s true for our bedtime computer checks – though in that case; it is because we don’t want to get into another round of bad news commentary.
I am tempted to offer some commentary on Ethan’s sleepover last night, since Naomi apparently had more fun with him than I had with Aiden, but I’ll resist the urge; and also avoid any future opportunity that Ethan might have for payback! If you really want to know more, though, I’ll guess that Naomi’s journal from last night or tonight is very interesting – if you have access to it whenever you’re reading this in our future! Feel free to check that out, but we’ve had enough for today; and it is time to catch up on our sleep before we do head back to school in the morning!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
