Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 10, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Our personal top story of the day is the meeting that we attended with Mom, Dad, Cassie, and Michael for the Magi Council that was timed ahead of Cassie and Michael’s trip, but also included near-term future plans.  Before we get to that; I’ll try to offer a quick report of our day through until we headed over to that meeting that Cassie and Michael also hosted.

Tai Chi was indoors; we had a hot breakfast with Mom and Dad; and then our school day was fun but not very interesting.  There is something that I got teased about again today that I probably should have mentioned yesterday regarding my total lack of interest in the college football championship game that was played on Monday night.  There are families here in town with University of Michigan grads, so their win over Washington was a big deal for them.  That’s great and I can be happy for them while still not caring at all about the game – other than I definitely have opinions about the exploitation that goes on in many college sports that really shouldn’t be allowed to happen at all.

Nobody wants me to get into a rant on that; so we continued working on our new learning modules; it warmed up outside to a bit above freezing; and we opted for after-school play time with our friends that included a bit of snow fun and park play followed by a warm-up snack break in the lounge with about half of our classmates.  All of our friends headed for their homes in time for dinner; we had that meal with Mom and Dad; and then we cleaned up and went over to Cassie and Michael’s place.  We brought Silkie along to give her a change of scenery; and she had fun hanging out with us – and with the available members of the council.

***RESTRICTED UPDATE***

Cassie and Michael will be trying to confront one of the Dark Magi Masters during their second week in Australia.  Unlike most of the Dark Magi families, Sabre is a loner; hides from the other Dark Magi; and wanders the world in search of adventure and wealth.  That made it very difficult for us to find him in the first place and then track him, but Mom helped a lot with getting that done; and we know where he’s going to be thanks to some annual destinations that were only apparent after we learned enough about him to acquire years worth of his travel history.  Our foresight is helping too, but only in confirming that Sabre won’t likely be changing his habits.

There are still unknowns that Cassie and Michael will need to deal with when they confront him, but Sabre has a very-large yacht that he lives on full-time as well as uses to get around the world.  While that ship might be as-large as some mansions, Cassie and Michael might be in for a serious challenge if they end up fighting Sabre on his watery turf – though we don’t expect that he’ll have any nearby neighbors that might be collateral risks in a fight.  We don’t want to get bogged down with commentary on this part of Cassie and Michael’s trip.  The Magi Council members continue to worry about this part of our plans for the Ascension of the Light; we continue to convince them that it is meant to happen and will over the coming years and decades; and we move on and put our trust in Cassie and Michael!  Stay tuned; and we’ll let you know how this next fight goes for all of us!

***END OF RESTRICTED UPDATE***

If I’m being honest, most of our meeting with the council was about really tedious details for our local plans, and while those projects are exciting; Ethan and I seriously doubt that future readers want to know about building infrastructure for our new communities – especially when it comes to things like sewers, water and electrical lines, or the need for sewage treatment expansion.  The new retirement housing and cottages will also have some amenities like community buildings and outdoor activities for either seniors or kids; and we can also report that at least some of the council elders are going to join our grandparents and buy one of those smaller homes over the next year or two.  An expansion for the Solar-Wind farm was discussed too, but that had more to do with selling more power into the grid and cutting local costs by doing that.  We’re also taking a look at other energy projects that could add to the project, but setting up for things like thermal heat systems are a longer-term part of that plan.

There is going to be more charity and family business volunteer travel in the coming years; and we’re looking to do that more-often with younger adults as well as the retirees.  Ideas for getting interest in doing that range from summer trips for teachers to paid sabbatical years off from any job.  Naomi would be all for signing up to do that with Ethan, but while it is a lot of fun to imagine them traveling the world on movie-worthy missions to find lost knowledge from ancient civilizations; we’ll be sticking with playing normal students for at least the next ten years or so! ;^)

There were other parts of the meeting that we didn’t really need to be there for, but we stayed; helped Cassie and Michael with some work and keeping their guests happy with hot or cold drinks and snacks; we had some quality chat time with them; and then we came home with Mom and Dad by a bit before midnight – after a post-meeting chat with Cassie and Michael after the council members headed for their own homes.  We didn’t need to add in another bedtime chat with Mom and Dad, so Ethan and I have gotten ready for bed; and he’s been here in my room as usual while we take care of the bedtime computing and twin chat wrap up to our day.

The countdown to Cassie and Michael’s trip seems a bit more-real tonight, but the busy for all of us will continue to roll along through until they head out on Monday; so we’ll just have to deal with that – regardless of how much or little we see of them over the next four days.  This has been another late night, though, and we can expect more of the same tomorrow with game night at the Inn to go along with the work we want to get done before the weekend; so that’s all for this report – almost!  Sorry, Ethan, but I want to mention the weather again, since it is forecast to get much-colder with drops over the next three days into a deep-freeze.  The snow part of the forecast continues to be all over the place; so we’ll just wait and see what happens – and hope that neither the cold nor snow will mess up Cassie and Michael’s travel plans.  We can add that our grandparents are safely away from the bad weather, and while they are going to get some colder weather down in Texas too; highs in the sixties for the rest of this week and weekend sound great to us compared to what is coming our way!  Let’s call it a night, since my thoughts are wandering toward the summer weather that Cassie and Michael will get to enjoy for the next month, and while that might warm me up in dreamland; it would also lead to a cold shock in the morning when we need to walk to school!

Ethan, am I really going to need to remind you every night that I am a girl and that you should just get used to rambling ends to our joint journals?  If you really have such a problem with it; we can always go back to doing our separate updates.  It isn’t as though we’ll keep doing this forever; since neither of us will want to do this once you’re living with Naomi and I’m with Aiden.  Quit grinning like that; since that isn’t going to happen anytime soon for you – and no; Mom and Dad would not let you give Naomi a roommate for her birthday either here or at her house!

I should have quit while still thinking about hot, summer weather, but Ethan’s totally messed that up now, so I’m telling him to get out of my room; and that is definitely an end to this report!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
