Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 4, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Aiden’s parents were not surprised by our not-unplanned co-ed sofa sleepover last night, so while that isn’t why we’re currently getting ready for another night away from home – this time at Sophia’s house; that isn’t why we’ve set that up.  In this case, we also want to spend some time with Jessica and Patrick while they’re home from college; and they are available for that tonight.  As with last night, we’re sure that our entertainment highlights will be tonight, but we’re not taking our computers along; and the ‘when’ for our daily reports don’t really matter to any future readers.  If I’m wrong about that and still around when you’re reading this; feel free to let me know – and explain why an end-of-day report would be important to you! ;^)

The tween cooking last night was a success according to Hailey and her friends – and no, we didn’t just cook up frozen pizzas or other finger foods!  That meant more work before and after the meal, but we loved sharing that time with my future sister-in-law and the other girls; and then we went on to an awesome play evening.  Our audience loved the musical entertainment that we provided with our practice; the girls picked the first movie; and then they eventually moved on to their own bedtime fun in Hailey’s room after Hannah and Nathan got home from the birthday party and went to bed after just a short visit with all of us.  We stayed up and watched another movie; the co-ed cuddle time was a highlight that was better without me needing to write our update while Naomi likely would have teased me the entire time; and then we eventually got around to some quality nap time.

We got up in time for Tai Chi this morning, but we also took that ‘show’ on the road and over to Cassie and Michael’s house.  That wasn’t really a surprise for them by the time we arrived, but it did make for a fun start to the day for all of us.  We couldn’t do breakfast with them too because we were in charge of getting breakfast ready for the gang at Aiden’s house.  We cooked for that meal too, and while I’m thinking about it; Aiden’s father has a serious aversion to products like Pop Tarts; so you will never find anything like that in their kitchen.  Pancakes and bacon worked for everyone, and in hindsight; maybe we should have invited Cassie and Michael to join us; since their breakfast wasn’t as good as ours!

Hailey and her friends were free to move on after breakfast and they did that, but the tweens in the house had a to-do list of chores to get done at three homes.  We stayed together to do all of that work; had lunch with Mom; and then we’ve had the afternoon off.  We hit the trails with our bikes, but it was barely above freezing; so we only ended up staying outside for an hour or so before coming home again to warm up and hang out in the lounge.  Sophia and Aaron were with us in time for the biking and since then; and now we’re only split up for long-enough for five of us to pack overnight bags.  We won’t need to haul band gear too because Sophia’s family collectively has about as much as the rest of us combined.  We’re expecting that any music fun tonight could be amazing – especially if Sophia’s Dad and brother get in on the fun and jam with us!

Before we wrap this up and get going; let’s add in a few comments that aren’t directly about us.  First up, Cassie and Michael are still working hard and putting in long days while getting ready for their trip to Australia.  We need to find some times to spend with them before they leave, but they want to do that with all of their favorite people; so we’ll need to share them – even if we really don’t want to do that sometimes!  We can now do that together with Sophia, but haven’t really thought about that much for her brother and sister – or the rest of the Bassett cousins.  It is a bit funny to think about Patrick being a future cousin of Cassie’s too, but let’s save those jokes for the future – not that Michael’s family really needs any new crush stories when they already have so much fun with the one that Cassie started with her admissions of crushing on Jake.  We don’t want to mess that up for her, but for the record, while she does like Jake a lot; she never actually had a crush on him and has loved Michael from the moment they met.  If they are still around when you’re reading this in our future; please pretend that you don’t know the truth about that and play along with the jokes too!

Ethan and I didn’t get to the lab or archives today and probably should have gone, but we might be done with the work there for the rest of our break; depending on what our friends want to do during the last few days of our holiday.  Let’s also add that we won’t be doing game night at the Inn tonight because they don’t start up again until next Thursday, but don’t worry about our favorite adults getting kid-free nights; since we’re fairly-sure that they’ll be able to keep themselves entertained – even if they tell us that they didn’t do anything at all whenever we see each of them next!  That is a mental musing that we do not want to have, but does lead to our plans for later tonight.  A co-ed play room sleepover might be in our near future, but we’ll have to let you know how that goes for us; since this would be a first for Sophia at her house – and for the rest of us too.  Ethan has suggested that it might also be weird if we can do that but also have Jessica and Patrick with us for the night, but I’ll guess that if they are staying the night too; they’ll do that in Jessica’s room.

Stop grinning, Ethan, since I know what you’re thinking, and while Naomi would likely be the one sneaking into your room instead of the other way around; we are not going there tonight – or likely anytime soon.  Yes, I’ll likely be wrong about that for you and Naomi, but let me stay in denial for a while longer before I’ll need to accept the inevitable.  Yes, I also know that I’m writing a lot for an update that doesn’t include much actual news.  Have fun with the jokes; since I’ve already mentioned that I’ll be writing as much as I feel like every day; so you should just accept that reality and get used to it.

I do want to move on and get back to the fun with our friends, though, so I’ll curb my impulse for more commentary for now, but expect more to come – especially since I’m feeling a very strong urge for a political rant soon thanks to the collective idiots that seem to be in charge of the world right now.  Some days I really wonder whether Cassie and Michael would get more done by dealing with politicians before Dark Magi Masters and their families, but Cassie probably is doing the right thing; since many of the worst politicians are ultimately being manipulated by those Dark Magi on some level whether that is directly or through proxies.

Okay, Ethan, let’s again concede that I can’t even wrap up a wrap-up quickly; I’ll call this one done now; and we can get over to Sophia’s house now.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
