Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 18, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 80th Birthday, Grandpa!

Our day began quietly with Tai Chi for four and breakfast with Aiden’s Mom and sister, but we didn’t get around to sharing in any of Grandpa’s birthday fun until dinnertime.  We had a busy day at school with a couple of quizzes and project work time; Ethan and I mostly ended up hanging out with Mom after school – along with Naomi and Aiden until they headed for their homes for dinner.  The vid-chat with Grandma and Grandpa was an entertainment highlight of the day, and while Grandpa had fun teasing us about it being much-warmer in Texas; it wasn’t quite as warm as they’d have liked along the gulf coast when their high for the day only came close to the mid-sixties for a few hours.  They have still had a good day; were heading out for their own birthday dinner and a show plans when we wrapped up that call; and then we eventually moved on to game night at the Inn.  Mom was actually getting a bit tired by then, but she didn’t want to disappoint Miranda – and we don’t really need to know or write about why Mom might have been that tired after a kid-free night in the city with Dad!  She still managed to help Miranda out with winning the game night title again; and I can report two titles for our family; since Naomi got Ethan to help her out with a junior title win too.  Let’s mention that there was a low teen turnout this week due to exam studying for our version of high school mid-terms, but Naomi was also the most-motivated junior player tonight too.

Since Mom was tired, we didn’t do any work or a Magi lesson and sent her up to her Jacuzzi and bedtime instead after getting home.  Ethan and I needed Jacuzzi or shower time too, so we took care of that; and have been winding down with the usual twin chat and computing.  We don’t really have anything else to offer for our own news, but let’s include an update for Cassie and Michael.  They are already well into their Friday as we’re writing this; and they are getting a lot done every day.  On their local time Wednesday, they fit in meetings or events with a total of five businesses or charities.  The biggest deal was with an inter-modal transportation company, but the evening charity event was the most fun for them.  The work highlight for their Thursday was the on-site visit to a community project that they hope will eventually be a self-sustaining combination of homes, businesses, and education facilities that will also be another model that can be replicated elsewhere in Australia and other countries.  The rest of their business meetings went well and as-expected too; they wrapped up that day with a charity dinner-fundraiser; and then they did a bit of sightseeing on their own for the rest of the evening.  We’ve also heard that they had fun with a post-midnight vid-chat with Grandma and Grandpa for his birthday that was at breakfast-time for our grandparents, but the joke-highlight for that call was Cassie pretending that it was a belated call because it was Friday by then in Sydney.  We don’t have any details so far from what they’ve been doing so far for their Friday, but don’t really expect any problems – unless they have any issues like they did with that one partnership that they walked away from in China.  Cassie and Michael did learn from that experience, so while there are no guarantees; we’ll expect to avoid that kind of situation in the future.  Cassie and Michael aren’t going to have a lot of time off this weekend, but they will do some more sightseeing too before moving on from Sydney to Melbourne; so they will get to actually enjoy the summer weather too.  We’ll keep you posted on that too, but let’s wrap this up; since Ethan and I want to rest up for our last day of the school week and our weekend adventures too.

We’ve had another good day, and we’re winding down toward the end of this current deep freeze; so we’re feeling good about pretty much everything right now – not including the world events that we can’t fix anyway.  Ethan is warning me against going there, and I’m choosing to listen to him tonight; so that’s all we have and we’re off to our beds and dreamland right now.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
