Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 9, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 2rth Birthday, May!

We didn’t get to share in any of May’s birthday fun today, but Cassie and Michael had a long vid-chat with May and Lee; they are very happy; and love everything about their work and lives in Georgia – the country, not the state for anyone reading this that might not know or remember that part of their story.  We also know that it is warmer there, but they are apparently getting a lot of rain; and have colder weather on the way too – if not nearly as cold as we’ll have here.  While we’re thinking about May and Lee, let’s again mention that Lee is working on computer programming geared specifically for Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Asian customers; and May works as a translator and interpreter for both private businesses and governments with the latter having her make regular trips to the Georgian Capitol – though there are political events in Batumi too; since the city on the Black Sea coast is a very popular summertime tourist destination.

We’ve had another interesting day here – if not birthday-worthy fun.  More snow arrived this morning, but while we got another inch or two, it mostly drifted down while we were at school; and didn’t even really slow down the school buses or anything else in the area as the road crews could keep up with the removal and keeping the roads ice-free.  There was a low turnout for our school band practice because of the weather, but that had more to do with farm kids needing to get home and help with livestock and prepping for the deep freeze that can be really tough on all farm animals.  We still did a first run-through of the songs we’ll need for Valentine’s Day; and then Ethan and I came home on our own and got to work on clearing the driveway and sidewalks with help from Dad – or the other way around; since he got home and started on that work first.  Mom held dinner for us; we warmed up while enjoying the lasagna and sides; and then we headed for the lab or archives for some work-play there while Mom and Dad stayed warm and worked in the office.

I’ll take responsibility for staying too-late at the lab tonight, but I got into an experiment that couldn’t just be stopped and picked up again later; so Mom let me get away with working until after midnight; and Ethan loves me and didn’t really have a problem with the extra hours immersed in his books and scrolls!  My cancer research still has a long way to go, but I really like where I’m taking it now; and feel pretty good about making that little dream a reality.

Most of our future readers really won’t want me to get into the details of that experiment or the rest of my research either, so I won’t go there; and you can always check out the lab archives if you really do want to keep up with all of the research we do there.  We also don’t really have much to add for this report.  Mom picked us up and brought us home; bath or Jacuzzi time was needed; and now it is late and we’re past-ready for nap time so I’ll agree with Ethan tonight and wrap this up so we can get to that sleeping part of our night!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
