Ehlana, Aiden, Ethan, and Naomi:
Happy 3rd Birthday, Rochelle Ryan!
Our Johnson clan cousin is celebrating her special day with McEwan and Ryan family and friends, and while we didn’t even have a call with her; we have heard that the Carringtons had a vid-chat with Rochelle – as did Christina and Josiah; and we expect that she’s having an awesome day!
The news for today is definitely the arrival of the ‘polar vortex’ to our area. We’ve only had a dusting of snow, but the temperature dropped throughout the day; and staying indoors as much as possible was something that everyone was interested in doing – whether that was an option the way it was for us or not. We can report that Mom got her weekend shopping done ahead of the cold; we’re set to stay warm and indoors for most of the weekend; and that trend may continue well into next week; since it is going to stay very cold for most of the next week or more.
After Tai Chi and a hot breakfast, the walk to school was chilly, but not awful; we had a quiet day at school in-part due to the weather change. That was especially-true for the farm students because they have a much-tougher weekend ahead of them as most of them need to help their families deal with protecting animals, equipment, and more from the deep cold. We should likely feel at least a bit guilty over having it so much easier here at our house, but while we definitely commiserate; we are not interested in offering to go out to any of our friends’ farms to help them out for the next few days! Let’s also add that really cold weather affects the Green family with all of their greenhouses; and they’ll be seriously-challenged to keep temperatures up in the fight against temperatures that are forecast to dip into the negative-thirties for the wind-chill starting tomorrow night.
It really was quite a bit colder by the time we were set free from school; so we had no trouble convincing a small gang of our friends to hang out at our house and in the lounge an my room for the rest of the afternoon. The guys mostly played video games; the girls listen to or played music and enjoyed some chat time; and we went through a fair number of snacks and drinks. Only Naomi and Aiden stayed for dinner and the rest of the night. They ran home to pack overnight bags before dinner and made those trips as quickly as possible; Ethan and I helped out with making dinner; and then we enjoyed having that meal with Mom and Dad. We’ve had a quiet cuddle-and-movies night with just one after-dinner break to clear off the light snow covering on the driveway and sidewalks; and we mostly did that so that it wouldn’t become a problem because of the cold. Since Dad will be in the city next week, we had Mom and Dad join us for two of the movies and chat time. That was mostly because we’ll be at Cassie and Michael’s house tomorrow night – along with Sophia and Aaron; and Dad will be busy with getting ready for his trip the rest of the time. While we’re here tonight, Cassie and Michael are hosting a girls’ night for Brianna, Faith, Leah, Hailey, and possibly a couple of extra friends as part of their ongoing plan to spend time with all of their favorite people before they leave on Monday. We’ll hope that our cousins don’t tire them out too much for them to have fun with us tomorrow, but if that does happen; Ethan and I can always help them out with some fatigue healing! ;^)
Mom and Dad have headed off to bed, but we’re still winding down with another movie; and Naomi is again enjoying more cuddle time with Ethan while I take care of writing this report. Even Aiden is expecting me to drag this out for a while longer too, so just to prove them wrong; that’s all I have for tonight and I’m out of the digital ‘here’ and back to the real world again starting right now!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
