Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 30, 2019

Ethan:

It’s the last day of November; the official start to Christmas feels as though it is on now – or will be by tomorrow as we begin the last month of the year while also launching the Advent season at church.  I’m tired, since I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night; so I’m going to keep this short.

We played video games until too-late last night; had a nap; and then got going again with Tai chi and breakfast with the guys while Mom went over to do the same with the girls at the Carrington’s home.  That required some other guys and girls to do breakfast visits at other houses too, but that was fun – even with Zack and Eli in top form for that meal.  There was a lot of play time after that – at least for the kids.  The weather didn’t end up being quite as warm as predicted, but it was still warm-enough for some outdoor play time to go along with the football action – including some football at the park.  We also did an afternoon trip to the ranch for a comparatively-short trail ride; and then it was back to playing and football – or movies and chat time for the girls for  most of the rest of the day.  There was video gaming in the lounge, but that ended fairly-early because the parents began to run out of steam too.  It isn’t all that early as I’m writing this, but I don’t have another late night in me; so I’m glad that I’m here in my bed and without sleepover guests in the house – other than May.

I also don’t have anything important to add to this report; so I’ll wrap it up; call it a night; and crash into nap mode for a while.

Ehlana:

Ethan’s comments reminded me of a few notes that we’ve missed over the past few days.

First up – Happy 19th Birthday, Rowen!  We didn’t miss her special day yesterday, but she was working at the store; so her celebration was very low-key; and we didn’t get to spend more than a few minutes with her – while making that stop to check out the sales at the computer store.  Next up, I haven’t mentioned that May’s ‘cowboy’ is no longer available to hang out with her anymore; since he has a serious girlfriend now.  There was never going to be anything serious between May and Cody, but she’s had fun with that; and will likely have some all-new jokes to share with her friends next week when they’re back at school.

As for my day since the last report, the girls had an earlier bedtime; more fun with Tai Chi and breakfast; the morning play time included more shopping and park playground fun; and then we split up into smaller groups for lunch before the trail ride gang headed for the ranch.  Naomi and Aiden were with us for a lot of the day, but headed home or to the bakery by late afternoon so that they could spend time with their own families for the rest of the day.  Our adventures here at home continued to be fun, but quieter as we all seemed to need to wind down from the past couple of days – and get ready for our last day tomorrow that will include a lot of travel for some of us to go along with a last blast of holiday fun.

I guess that’ll do it for me tonight too, and while I took the time for a soak in my Jacuzzi, I did that early-enough so that May could take a turn too; so I’m writing this while she’s still in the tub; and I’ll likely be sleeping before she’s out again.  We already did a quick bedtime girl chat just in case that happens; so we’re good to go.  We do still have a lot to do tomorrow, so I’ll move on to the sleeping part of my day; and write all about that fun tomorrow night.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 29, 2019

Ethan:

We promised a double-update, so I’m going to fit mine in between movies and video gaming instead of waiting until bedtime; since that might not be until later for those of us doing the sleepover with the guys at our house tonight.  Ehlana, Naomi, and May are with the girls at the Carrington’s house tonight; though they also have some couples there too – including Cassie and Michael; though they’re not spending the entire night there.  I should start with the news from yesterday; so I’ll do that.

The weather might be one of the stories for this holiday weekend; since we’ll end up with a mixed bag of it ranging from a bit of snow and freezing rain on Thanksgiving; rain and a thunderstorm tonight; and the one-day blast of warm we’re supposed to get tomorrow that might allow us to do a trail ride at the ranch tomorrow afternoon.  Having a cold, messy start to our Thanksgiving meant keeping Tai Chi indoors – along with a lot of our play time, but we had a lot of fun too.  Breakfast was for five after our workout; Ehlana and I only had to do a few chores before being set free to play for the morning; and we had fun with our cousins and friends – either at home or while visiting elsewhere.  There was some outdoor time, but most of our fun was through watching shows, playing video games, and hanging out together.

Naomi and I were together for a lot of the day; and split our time between her family and mine – though there were crossovers through the Johnson clan connections too.  We had an awesome day even with a lot of teasing from our family and some friends; ate too much at two family dinners; and then we had more play time through until we ended up at home with Ehlana and Aiden for the movies and sleepover.  May, Mom, and Dad spent some time with us too, but went to bed before we did – which made the sofa sleepover much easier to get away with for Naomi and me.  Ehlana and Aiden camped in the lounge too, but not really paired up – even if they did have their sleeping bags close together and they held hands until sometime after they fell asleep.  We’re not on Christmas movie overload or anything, but the girls also let us go with some favorites last night; so that was great too.

Adding Naomi and Aiden to our Tai Chi workout group this morning was great; and then we got to have a bonus bit of fun when Mom and Dad opted for the breakfast buffet at the Inn instead of cooking at home ahead of the shopping.  Rain was in the forecast for today too, but we had some luck with us; since it held off until around dinnertime.  That made the shopping adventure much more fun – especially for the girls.  They shopped through a lot of the day, but we were home for lunch; and then the guys were home for most of the afternoon too – either watching sports or playing video games.  The guys’ and girls’ sleepovers plan was worked out by the parents and some of the girls; and Mom lost the coin toss – or didn’t; since that might have just been a joke to explain why we ended up here while Aunt Leann got the girls.

That plan kicked in starting at dinnertime.  We had a lot of leftovers, but some Zack-friendly foods too; so we had fun with that; and didn’t have any major food issues with the younger guys.  There were sports to watch in the living room, but the lounge was gaming central; and that’s where I’ve spent most of my time.  Multi-tasking movies was part of the entertainment; and Aiden and I managed to watch one entire show while the other guys were keeping the video gaming competition going without us.  We’re switching to a bedtime movie soon, but Zack is already getting set up for continuing gaming using portable systems.  I don’t expect to be going to sleep anytime soon, but that’s all I have time for now; and I’m being called back to the lounge now.

We really have had an awesome holiday weekend so far; and I’m sure that will continue tomorrow – especially if we get that warm, sunny weather after the rain tonight.  I’ll keep you posted on that, but I’m done for now; and back to doing my part to keep Zack, Eli, and the other guys out of trouble for the rest of the night.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

Ethan pretty much has Thanksgiving covered; though I’ll add that my day was a bit quieter without the extra meal and fewer visits to other houses.  Instead of doing more; I got to spend more time with our family; watch an extra Christmas chick flick; and avoid most video gaming and football!  Our sleepover was a highlight for me too – for yesterday; and the breakfast buffet at the Inn and the Black Friday shopping was even better.

Wrapping up our day with a girls’ night sleepover is amazing too – and we again get to skip the video games and football!  Instead of doing anything like that, we’re having mini-makeovers tonight; more Christmas chick flicks to watch; and a whole lot of girl chat time with our favorite girls.  Ethan didn’t mention that Mom has been here for a lot of tonight too, but she was home for dinner; and is already back there now after the end of our last movie.

I’m writing this update during a break between movies, but we’ll be heading off to sleep after this last one; since we want to be rested and ready for Day Three of our holiday weekend.

That doesn’t seem to come close to writing enough to explain how awesome our holiday has been so far, but it’s time to move on now; so this will have to do; since I really do need to move on to the rest of our fun for tonight.  I’m sure that we’ll continue to have an amazing weekend, so stay tuned; since there’s sure to be a lot more to come!

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 28, 2019

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ethan:

We’ve had an amazing, remember-forever kind of day, but Naomi and Aiden are here for a bonus holiday sleepover; so I’m going to save up my news of the day and go with a double report tomorrow – or maybe a report-and-a-half; depending on more sleepover plans that might be set up for tomorrow night too.  Christmas movies and cuddle time with Naomi are starting soon in the lounge, though; so I have to go! ;^)

Ehlana:

I might spend some time cuddling with Aiden tonight, but the rest of Ethan’s comments apply to me too, and since our archives will be read in our future anyway; there’s no rush to get a full report done tonight – so I’ll go with that double-update plan too; and get back to enjoying the holiday with our family and friends.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 27, 2019

Ethan:

We’ve had a good day, but not filled with much of anything newsworthy for our corner of the town and family.  I’m also tired and want to get some sleep now; so I’ll leave this update to Ehlana to cover.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

I can do that.

Our day at school was quiet from a work perspective; and busy with the excitement of the holiday weekend we’re starting in on now.  It’s been getting cooler, so there wasn’t much outdoor time, and our friends were busy with their own families; so we were at home with Cassie, Michael, and May after school – and stayed indoors too.

We don’t have extra family guests this weekend because the Rice clan isn’t coming here this year – mostly because their kids are all at college and don’t have this entire week off.  The out-of-town Proctors are here, but staying with the Everetts; and the grandparents that came home from Arizona this morning are at Grandma and Grandpa’s house.  About half of the McEwan and Johnson clan is here – or will be eventually; and they’re split up between the Ayres’ and Carrington’s homes.  We’ll likely have at least one sleepover event this weekend too that could be at our house, but I’ll let you know how that goes.

Ethan and I had some visits with incoming family – including our grandparents, but we’ve also had an unexpectedly-quiet evening around here too.  We’re okay with that, since it meant more time with Cassie and Michael; and we – the girls – especially-loved the Christmas chick flick movie time too.  Ethan missed out on having his favorite movie cuddle buddy, but we will spend some time with Naomi and Aiden this weekend – and Ethan will be sharing bonus time with Naomi while they share their family Thanksgiving adventures together for both families.  Sure, there will be some crossovers for that, since the Seagers will be doing Thanksgiving dinner with the Ayres, Carrington, and Johnson clans, but that’ll just be even more fun for them – and us.

I guess that there isn’t much to add for tonight.  The holiday fun is really going to kick up a few notches for us tomorrow; so I should wrap this up and get to sleep too so that I’ll be ready for all of those amazing adventures with our family and friends.
