Ethan:
Another day; another non-news adventure!
School, play time at the lab or archives,
and dinner with Mom was a repeat of the past couple of days. Game night at the Inn was fun – and a change
for us too, but then we stayed up later to work and study after getting home;
so now I’m tired and ready to get some sleep.
That’s it for me; so I’m going to go and do
that starting right now.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
I don’t have any news from home either, but
do want to add a few notes about Cassie’s first week back at college.
First up, she’s having renewed problems
with Philippe Montagne – proof that Dark Magi are far from our only problems
with the world. Having an unwanted
suitor might not seem like a big deal compared to the problems she’s had so far
this year with Gwyneth, but it is becoming an everyday problem for Cassie; and
it’s wrong for anyone to think and act as though they should get whatever they
want regardless of to cost to others. I
don’t want to go on a rant about this, but there ought to be no place for that
sort of thing anywhere, and regardless of how good-looking Philippe is; it also
seems that there’s still a caveman gene or two in his DNA.
Maybe I should make that my next research
project – finding a cure for the Neanderthal throwbacks that think it’s still
okay to knock a girl over the head with a club and drag them back to their
cave!
On a side-note to that story; I’ll mention
that Serena has apparently found out that geeks can be hot. While her changing opinion of one of Rowen’s
computer classmates seems funnier, it is also still an example of how
superficial people can be. Serena
completely dismissed someone she’s known for months now because he was a geek –
until she saw him for the first time running laps on the indoor track at the
college. That may be totally normal, and
part of human life, but it’s still a bit scary to know just how little people
seem to care about finding out what others are like on the inside before
choosing who they want to hang out with – on any level of friendship.
I’d likely get called a hypocrite for
saying that, since my best friend is beautiful, but we love Naomi – and Aiden –
for what’s on the inside.
Being beautiful or handsome is just a
really awesome bonus! ;^)
Moving on, Cassie’s going to be even busier
this semester, in part because her tech class for Interpreting and Translating
requires using the school labs; so she won’t be able to speed up that work the
way she can with everything else when at their townhouses. That’ll also mean more time on campus – and potentially
more opportunities for Philippe to bother her. Extra evenings at school could
provide new risks from Gwyneth or her goons too, so I wish we knew more about
them, but Gwyneth is keeping her dealings with her mercenaries off of the
Hathorne systems grid; so we really don’t know enough to be of any use to watch
out for their next move.
We do think that they will act again,
though; so I’m glad that Cassie has her best friends there with her to help out
if needed. I should be worried too, but
I’m not; and we have a lot of faith in our big sister. She’s amazing; and is going to be at the
heart of this Ascension of the Light for very good reasons.
Being a fearless daredevil is just one of them.
Okay, I’m ready to sleep now too, so that’s
enough for tonight. We only have one
more school day ahead of the last weekend of the month; so we’ll see what we
can do about wrapping up January with at least a bit of the kind of fun we
started it with! Stay tuned and I’ll let
you know how that works out for us.
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
