Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 14, 2023

Ethan, Ehlana, Naomi, and Aiden:

Happy 14th Birthday, Nicole Johnson!

The usual family gifts were sent, but we didn’t have any personal involvement in Nicole’s special day.  We haven’t heard any updates either, but that is mostly because Mom is in the city tonight; and we haven’t talked with anyone that might have celebration details.  We will keep you posted if anything interested comes up on that story, but let’s move on to our own news of the day.

Since Mom was going to the city today, we had fun this morning with Tai Chi by the river and breakfast.  Academic adventures included another music practice with one of the primary classes; and there was some bonus outdoor time thanks to another warm afternoon and a teacher interested in getting out of the classroom for a while!  That worked for us, but then we didn’t get to enjoy the outdoor fun after school with our friends because we had the school band practice instead.  That is fun too; so we had a blast with the Christmas music – though we’re still on the bottom rungs of the band; and our parts are not very challenging.  Ehlana, Naomi, and I went home with Aiden for dinner; helped with the work on either side of the meal so that his parents could take it easy; and then the four of us headed over to the lab to play there for a couple of hours.

Ehlana really wanted to go there again today because of the work she had in-progress that was looking so promising.  Aiden stayed in the lab to keep her company, but Naomi went to the archives with me; and we had more fun and didn’t get much work done because we totally took advantage of the alone time!  It is for the best that Naomi doesn’t want to be an archivist when we grow up too; since it is already obvious that we wouldn’t get much done if we both worked there every day.  Thankfully, Ehlana did get work done; and she is just as happy tonight with how her current research is going.  Naomi is pretending that she isn’t happy about that, but only because if Ehlana cures all of the diseases in the world before we graduate college; she might become a billionaire before Naomi can help her out with making that happen and join that financial club with her best friend.  That’s fun to joke about, but not really a worry, and if needed; we’ll just make sure that Naomi has a part-time job with the lab and family business to help out with earning those billions of dollars! ;^)

Moving along, Aiden’s parents gave us a time limit on the lab time; we were home ahead of that curfew; and then we had a little music practice that we kept quiet while Aiden’s Dad was sleeping and that entertained his Mom and sister until they were ready to get to sleep too.  We’ve been watching a movie since then and enjoying some quality cuddle time; and now we’re pretty much ready to move on to the co-ed sofa sleepover part of our night.  Before we wrap this up, we can report that Cassie and Michael are moving on from Santiago, Chile to Lima, Peru; and they’ll be in that area until they come home on Saturday.  Their plan is to work on Wednesday and Thursday; enjoy a sightseeing day on Friday; and then they’ll begin their trip home with a first flight that will take off at around one o’clock in the morning.  Even though they’ll be close to the equator again, the weather in Lima is forecast to be spring-like with highs in the low-seventies, but the biggest difference is that it won’t cool down all that much at night.  We’d love that here if we could have the warm of our afternoons stick around overnight, but that isn’t happening; so we’ll try to enjoy the good and deal with the cold when needed.  It is weird for us to focus on that instead of the actual work and good that Cassie and Michael are doing on their trip; so it is obviously time to call it a night and get some sleep.  With just four more sleeps to go before Cassie and Michael will be home again; we can happily do that for more than one reason – though napping with our favorite cuddle buddies is still the very best reason for us to have the happiest of dreams to go along with the awesome reality!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
