Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 13, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

Dad – and Anna Marie – is in the city; our day started early while seeing him off; and we’ve had a very busy day since then!  Okay, there was a bit of bonus quiet time after Dad left, and Tai Chi by the river was serene and beautiful; so the busy kicked in with the work around breakfast and getting ready for school.  Academic adventures included one music practice, a quiz, and two new assignments, but while we had decent weather again; there wasn’t any bonus outdoor time.  We did choose to bike the trails and hang out at the park with our friends after being set free for the day; and we’ll keep enjoying the nice weather for as long as we get it.  Dinner with Mom was quick and easy; we all went to the lab after cleaning up; and then Mom played with Ehlana tonight while I spent that time with my books in the archives.  We should occasionally mention in our journals that Mom is not a scientist like Ehlana – unless you include computer sciences, but she is a genius; her Magi talents are extraordinary; and she can still teach Ehlana a lot about using our Magi abilities in her research – and do that in ways that Uncle Adam can’t because of his comparative limitations.  We all had fun tonight; Ehlana and Mom made some progress on the cancer research; and she is very happy as we’re doing this and the rest of our bedtime computing and twin chat.  It is late, but thanks to some time phasing at the lab; we’ll still get a decent night of rest.

Before we go there, though, let’s do a quick Cassie and Michael update.  As mentioned yesterday, they are in Santiago, Chile now; their day off on Sunday included some sightseeing, dinner in a small coastal town restaurant, and a sunset walk on the beach; and then their first work day of the week included the usual business meetings, working meals, and site visits.  The weather there is only a bit warmer than here, but that is springtime instead of fall; so it is very different too – if not like it had been for them in Brazil with the equatorial heat.  That, by the way will not be the same again when they move on to Peru for the second half of the week, but they will still get to enjoy warm temperatures; so their schedule has worked out pretty well for them from that respect too.  It would be fun to suggest that they’ve enjoyed so much good weather without any major rain issues because of their Magi talents, but that wouldn’t be true; and it has simply been good fortune that they’ve been able to do almost all of their work without any weather issues or delays.  With that thought in mind, we can also mention that local weather is something that is an important factor when it comes to most of our projects – especially when new infrastructure is needed to help protect our businesses and charity projects from problems ranging from snow in the mountains to the usual risks of coastal living.  That’s something that is very obvious in Chile when it really isn’t very far from Pacific coast to the mountains.  That probably wouldn’t seem strange at all to people living west of the Rockies or Sierra-Nevada mountains, but it is to us here in the middle of the country with a lot of land around without a mountain or ocean in sight! ;^)

I’m obviously getting tired, so while Ehlana might be up for a while pondering her research; it is time for me to wrap this up and get some sleep – so I will!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
