Happy 23rd Birthday, Jake!
Happy 17th Birthday, Shannon!
Celebrating birthdays on Good Friday really
doesn’t work very well in a town like ours, but we did have gifts for Michael’s
brother and our friend; and a low-key birthday lunch for Jake after the Good
Friday service at the church.
We also had a good, if quiet start to our
day; Tai Chi was chilly, but by the river; and I was at Michael’s for breakfast
before we headed over to church early because we were helping out with the
music for the service. As always, the
Good Friday service was solemn and the crucifixion story is a horror; but that’s
also toned down to be kid-friendly; and it is also one of the shortest services
of the year because there is no major sermon; and the Pastors want us to
internalize what the cross should mean for us.
I’m not going to sermonize here either, and
as with everything else about our relationship with God; the Easter story is
very different for Magi Masters because of our connection with God that isn’t
about faith because it’s as real and more-tangible to us than every other
relationship we have with the living world.
I can’t ‘prove’ that to anyone, but it is still true; and that just
makes holidays like Easter and Christmas that much more-special for me.
Relationships were what today was all about
for me too. The family and freinds time
is what Easter is all about when you think about it. For Good Friday, that’s about one sacrifice
that was made for the rest of us; but we can care for each other in a lot of
ways. Sometimes, that’s in service of
any kind, but sharing the love and joy that we’re meant to have in our lives is
just as important – and I did that a lot today!
Jake’s birthday lunch was the start of that, but then Michael and I
played all afternoon with our families – including some biking and park play
time; we had dinner at my house; and we’re having a play evening with our
friends that is going to include a sofa sleepover for us after we’re done with
the movie and gaming parts of our night.
We may have four junior campers in the lounge with us – or they may
decide to stay in Ethan’s and Ehlana’s rooms.
I’ll have to keep you posted on that.
Right now, though, I’ve just been taking a break between movies; did the
basic bedtime computer checks; and now I’m ready for the next show – and my
sofa sleepover.
We have the annual Easter Egg Hunt in the
morning, so we aren’t going to stay up too late tonight, but we’re also not
ready to wrap up the fun quite yet – and I may spend a bit of time playing with
Michael if we don’t have a room full of kids with us all night too. That would be great, but the odds might be
low; so I won’t get too-excited about that idea – and then hope for the best!
;^)
Either way, I need to get back to playing
with the twins and our friends now; so, until next time...
...May the Magi Force be with you!
