Happy 17th Birthday, Gretchen!
We did the best we could to help her
celebrate, but there was no party; and the exam studying sessions were at my
house – and Gretchen was there for most of that work. She had a birthday dinner at the Inn with her
family between the afternoon and evening rounds of studying; but only had her
boyfriend and their best friends with her for that.
Mom and Dad had some extra teens for dinner
tonight at our house, but only about a quarter of the gang; and everyone else
did their own thing for dinner tonight.
The studying went well, but we had another late night; and it was closer
to midnight than eleven by the time I was on my own again. That’s why Mom skipped the Magi lesson
tonight – and why Michael went home with the last group heading out instead of
staying to help me out with the clean-up.
I had that work done by midnight; had a
short visit with Mom and Dad because they were finishing up their homework
after spending the evening at the Inn for the first game night of the year; and
then I came up to bed and got ready to work and study again. That’s gone well too, but I’ve run out of
steam earlier than I’d have liked; and haven’t gotten everything done on my
to-do list for the day. I’ll need to
make up for that sometime this weekend, but I just can’t do anything else
tonight – which is why this update is done now too.
Wait – I almost skipped mentioning the
weather. The temperature plunged today;
we moved from getting rain to freezing rain and ice pellets to snow in just a
few hours. There have been problems in
other places because of the bad weather, but we’ve been okay here; and the new
power system is working great – and isn’t affected by ice, snow, or wind –
unless you count the fact that more wind is good for the wind side of our
Solar-Wind farm energy production. That’s
actually why I’m adding that note to this report – because that part of our
future plans changes for our town is working out perfectly so far. We haven’t had a power outage here in town
since the new farm went online!
