Tai Chi by the river was great; the gourmet
breakfast at Michael’s was awesome; and we had a fun morning at church. It was tough saying goodbye to our cousins
after that, but then Michael and I needed to rush that and then get to the Inn
and started on the prep work for the lunch rush.
We worked our tails off; didn’t officially
work through our afternoon break while cleaning guest rooms upstairs; and then
the non-stop, hot, and exhausting work continued through until close – with the
hot being in the kitchen thanks to another triple-digit weather day. When we could get home, Michael and I went
for a swim while Rebecca only stopped in for an overnight bag; and then she
headed out to the farm with Lucas. I would
have loved to do another sofa sleepover with Michael; but had work to get done
here; so I came home after the swim and got to it – as soon as I had a bedtime
chat with Mom, Dad, and the twins. Dad
will be in the city next week, but he’d still be working in the office because
he’d taken a bit too much time off during the rest of the weekend – and had a
few short days last week too.
It was heading toward midnight by the time
I showered and got changed and into bed with Mandy; and that was a bit more
than three hours ago – in real time. Add
in hours more for the time-phased work.
Dad will be getting up soon and ready for his trip, but I’m going to
wrap this up and have a little nap before seeing him off.
This isn’t going to rate high on a
best-ever kind of summer day, but they can’t all be filled with non-stop adventure
– especially when some of us have a college education to pay for sooner instead
of later!
That’s a topic for another day when I’m not
desperately in need of some sleep; so, until next time...
...May the Magi Force be with you!
