Top news of the day is that Michael and I
each had make-up ballgames during our team practice times tonight – and I
helped my team to win our game while Michael’s team lost ; in part because
Jacob couldn’t spare him to take the time off from the Inn due to a
busier-than-expected dinner rush. Before
I go there, though; let’s back up and cover the news from last night.
We played games around the back yard and by
the river; had some kid-rated, scary bedtime stories; and then a bit of teen
talk time before we got around to the sleeping part of our camping
adventure. Michael and I didn’t get a
lot of sleep, but we still woke with time to get ready for our breakfast shift
at the Inn and meet up with Jacob for the walk there. Rowen and Tim took temporary charge of the
kids, but had parental support by the time they started waking up at dawn.
Michael and I worked most of the morning;
took a break; and then we ended up working the lunch shift too. I came home after that; worked on some chores
and the family business; and then went back to the Inn to help with the dinner
prep work and the first hour or so of the dinner rush before going on to the
park for my ball game. Michael has
already been taking some heat for the Lasers’ loss, but it was actually the
ball games that messed up the schedule at the Inn; and Jacob couldn’t let all
of the guys playing in that game take the time off – which is why Michael was
drafted. Jacob and Miranda don’t play
favorites with their kids; and generally go the other way and make it a bit
unfair for Michael and Rebecca – and for Jake before them.
Moving on to the baseball news; Rowen and I
led our team to a quick, fifteen-to-ten victory over Landry’s Landslide, and
since that’s our fourth win; we’ll be in the championship game on the Labor Day
weekend regardless of what happens in our last regular season game a week from
Saturday. The Lasers were beat by the
Photons eighteen-to-fourteen; and Tim is unhappy because their chances for
making it into the championship game will hinge on the results of the last
matches of the season – and they’ll need to win their last game to have any
chance at all.
Of course, he might not care much about
that at all once football training camp opens; but I’ll keep you posted on
that!
Moving along again; Rowen and I had fun
with our friends while getting that win; we went for a swim after the game; and
then I went back to the Inn in time to help with just the very last bit of work
before close. I went home with Michael
after that; we went for a swim without any company; and then had some cuddle
time in his living room before I came home at a bit after eleven o’clock. I had a micro-shower; did a quick bedtime
computer and email check; and I’ll be heading off into nap mode as soon as I’m
done with this report.
Consider that done, since I’ll be getting
up early for another breakfast shift in a bit more than a handful of hours from
now; so, until next time...
...May the Magi Force be with you!
