Ethan:
Let’s begin this report with the rest of
the news from yesterday.
The biking and play time at the park was
fun, and though we didn’t have a lot of time for doing that; it was cooling off
again by the time we headed to our homes again for dinner and we were glad to
be indoors before it got uncomfortably cold.
Dinner was a quiet break – at least by comparison; and then we had a lot
of fun hanging out in the lounge with our favorite teens. We played video games, watched movies, and
stayed up later than we should have – including after we went to bed, but it
was great to spend that time together; and I’m really glad that Ehlana and I
got to do that with Naomi and Aiden too.
Aiden and I did some gaming in my room after we went to bed; didn’t get
a lot of sleep; and were a bit tired when we got up for Tai Chi this
morning. That didn’t keep us from having
fun, though, and we were excited about getting to our last school day ahead of
the holiday weekend.
It won’t happen, but I could like three day
school weeks as much as the other guys in our class! ;^)
The highlight of our school day was the
pizza lunch; and we didn’t really do anything important in our classes as we
had a Thanksgiving-themed play day filled with games and crafts. We got home just as Cassie and May finished
up their grocery and bakery shopping run; we went out to bike and play at the
park for a while; and then we were home again for dinner and to wait for our
incoming family arrivals. Grandma and
Grandpa were with us for dinner, so we got to hear more travel stories from
Grandpa – including a ‘big fish’ shark tale that was funny but improbable. I’ll still need decades to read all of the
archives – or longer; but haven’t found a single example of a Magi being eaten
by a shark. Grandpa would tell me that there’d
be no such records if the Magi had been eaten, and maybe that’s actually true,
but it wouldn’t take much Magi power to avoid sharks; so I’ll enjoy the stories
despite the facts that prove them to be fiction.
We have most of the Rice clan with us except
for Chris and his girlfriend because they’re with Violet and Dillon this
weekend. I’m sure that Jayden will be
here for a night or two too, but he’s with Aunt Grace and Uncle Mark tonight. Being the only kids around here tonight is
okay with Ehlana and me, but we didn’t play tonight; and have mostly sat around
talking since our weekend guests arrived and we finished with the work that
went along with their arrival. The
college stories were entertaining, and so was everything else we did tonight,
but it’s also been a long day for everyone whether we were at home or
traveling; so we’re heading to bed earlier than on some other holiday weekends.
Thanksgiving is going to be very busy for
us; so I’m okay with the extra sleep – especially after staying up late last
night. We have had a really good day,
but the holiday fun will really feel as though it has arrived in the morning,
and there are advantages to being kids; since we will get to play more than the
adults and teens while they keep up with all of the cooking and other work that
goes into every big family holiday. I
plan on enjoying that advantage while I can; since it won’t last forever – and I’ve
already been assured that it’ll be my job to host the family holidays whenever
Mom and Dad pass the family ‘homestead’ on to Naomi and me.
For the record, yes, Naomi is usually
included in those comments and jokes; and she doesn’t have a problem with that
part of our future plans.
We’re also happy that her family will be
spending some time with ours thanks to the Ayres’ family connections; and we’re
looking forward to getting to hang out together when we can – though she may
end up with the girls at our house while I’ll be with the guys at the
Carringtons’ home whenever the guys and girls are doing different things. I’ll let you know all about how that goes for
us too, but that’s all I have for tonight; and it really is time to get some
sleep.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
Ethan’s covered the basics for today; so I’ll
write a bit about some of the family news details that he didn’t mention.
First, I’m glad that Dawn is here, since
she’s really busy with her work and flying at the airport as she gets ready to
earn her pilot’s license on or shortly after her birthday. That’s so-important to her that she isn’t
dating anyone right now – at least not seriously; and probably won’t because
she’ll be heading off to college next summer – and won’t likely have anyone
from her graduating class going into aeronautic flight technology; so she doesn’t
want to complicate her life – or mess up her plans to be a commercial pilot.
Next up, we really like Martin’s
girlfriend, Kimberly, a lot. They’re a
great couple; and will be one of those freshman romance story exceptions that
stick together because they really are meant to be together. We’re sure about Chris and his girlfriend,
Sadie too, but we haven’t seen them much yet since they got to town; so we don’t
really have any new stories about them and how school is going for our two
future architects.
Finally, before I wrap this up and head off
to sleep, I’ll add that May is getting along great with our cousins; and it is
interesting to watch the interaction among a fairly-diverse group of
teens. Cassie’s commented on that before
too for her friendships at college, but that’s becoming more-true for our
cousins too as they focus on their own interests and plans for their futures;
and I love seeing that the diversity doesn’t keep them from having a good
relationship – something that doesn’t happen with every family.
Okay, Cassie can say that doesn’t happen
with some members of her family, but I think we can make an exception for the
Black Magi sheep in her family tree.
Okay, I’d say it’s time to wrap this up,
and Cassie will be done getting ready for bed soon anyway; so I need to get on
with the sisters’ bedtime chat soon anyway.
She isn’t planning on another sleepover in my room, but Mandy and I are
very comfortable; so we might keep her too.
I’ll let you know how that works out for us
too with the Thanksgiving Day report; so stay tuned – there’s lots more to come
for this holiday adventure!
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
