Ethan:
It seems weird, but things are already
quieting down around here today – sooner than I expected. That’s partially because we – the kids – have
been ordered not to talk about what happened on Halloween; which means that we
can’t talk about it with other kids that we didn’t already know were Magi. Ehlana and I know all of the Magi, but you
know what I mean for that; since we aren’t allowed to admit that we know about
most of them. My point here, though, is
that while there is more knowledge; the kids and teens can’t do anything about
it.
We had a quiet day at school as our
teachers got us back to our normal work, and while Halloween was still being
talked about for normal reasons; that’s winding down too. The weather was nice for a normal fall day,
but after missing extra days at the lab, Ehlana and I went there after school
to play instead of hanging out with our friends. That feels weird for me today too, but I’ll
get used to missing Naomi more than I did before we got our link on Wednesday
while also still sensing her whatever or wherever we are; and she does actually
have a life with her family and other friends too. Ehlana was especially-glad to get back into
the lab, but I had fun in the archives too; and then we had a quiet dinner at
home with Mom and Dad.
The highlight of our evening has been a
video and telepathic chat with Grandma, Grandpa, Cassie, Michael, Rowen, and
Tim; and Grandpa gets the win for joke of the day for pointing out that we only
seem to have these Dark Magi problems when they’re away from home – or we are. That’s been true, and we had fun with that;
but I really don’t think that there’s a correlation – or that the bad guys are
just too scared of Grandpa to try anything when he’s around. Some of us are just glad that they haven’t
been in danger from those Dark Magi; and I’ll hope they never will have to join
in on any fights with us.
We’ve had a lot of late nights this week,
and going to be comparatively-early is an option tonight; so that’s what I’m
going to do – starting right now.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
That sounds like a plan, Ethan – especially
since we may end up with a very dam fall clean-up day tomorrow.
I’ll add that we’ve taken another step
closer to our cold cure today; but we’re not there yet. Ethan’s right about Naomi and Aiden needing
time with their own families too, but we’re still going to need to be together
more-often from now on; and will have to work out how to make that happen.
It’s likely a bit too-soon for Ethan to
start having sleepovers at Naomi’s house instead of me, but try not to have too
much fun with that idea; since we are only seven. ;^)
There is one more thing that I want to
mention that Ethan didn’t; and it’s about the Magi teens. We’ve mentioned a worry about how Halloween
will affect the teen couples, and while there haven’t been any break-ups or
anything; we have sensed some strong emotions going on for a few of those teens
– specifically the ones that have discovered that their own boyfriend or
girlfriend isn’t a Magi. We don’t know
if that will ultimately affect those relationships, since there have been many
examples of successful marriages with ‘mixed’ couples, but that does continue
to be something for us to keep an eye on; and hope that what happened doesn’t
mess up anything that was meant to be for those teens. This is something that could affect the
younger kids too, but that won’t happen for years, a decade, or more for
obvious reasons; so that’s a longer-term concern for our Magi community. We can look for shorter-term changes in
friendships, but I also don’t think it’ll change much; since most Magi kids now
already have at least one Magi friend that they’re allowed to know about; so
that does make a difference too.
That’s enough for tonight. I’m going to get some sleep; and then we’ll
have what will hopefully be one of our last fall clean-up days – though we’ll
likely still have more leaves to deal with at least until the weekend before
Thanksgiving. The end is in sight,
though, and I’ll be glad of that – especially if it means that we can start
spending more time at the lab on weekends as we head into winter!
I only want to have a long, not-yet-winter’s
nap now, though; so I’m out of here.
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
