Ethan:
Welcome home, Grandma and Grandpa!
They’re exhausted after two long travel
days, but still spent some time with us this afternoon before we headed to the
Inn for the family and friends buffet dinner.
The parents made sure they had a ‘grown-up’ meal so that the grandkids
didn’t wear them out, but then we had fun with Cassie, Michael, and May while
at the Inn.
I’ve skipped over a fun, quiet morning at
home and our time at church and Sunday school, but I don’t have any news from
that part of our day – other than that May got a lot of attention from our
neighbors. We only had Michael and May
with us for lunch; and then our house was play central for our family and
friends for a few hours after that until Grandma and Grandpa got home. That was fun, but we moved over to grandma
and grandpa’s house when they got there; helped out with getting their van
unloaded; and had time for some stories until going to the Inn for dinner. I’m repeating myself for that, but grandpa’s
stories are great; so that was a highlight of our day.
The early return home allowed us to go to
the Inn for the early buffet, and that helped grandma and grandpa with their
lack of sleep; since they were able to go home and head for bed early too. Cassie and Michael stayed at the Inn to help
out with the work there, and May went over to Rowen’s house to hang out with
Rowen and Tim while they were busy; so Mom and Dad only had Ehlana and me when
we went home. That gave Mom the chance
for a bonus Magi lesson while we didn’t have any guests in the house. Dad had some work to finish, and we did a bit
of studying too, but Mom sent us up to bed early; and we’ll be sleeping before
Cassie and May get home because we have to pretend to be normal kids on a
school night instead of staying up late to work or study.
We’ve both still done a bit of work in our
rooms since bath or Jacuzzi time, but I’m tired and ready to nap now; so that’s
it for my Sunday night report.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
I’m glad to have grandma and grandpa home
again – even if this is just a short visit before they’ll be moving south again
until Christmas. Grandpa’s stories were
one of my highlights today too, but the play time this afternoon was good; and
the buffet dinners at the Inn are always special to me. Sharing Cassie and May a lot more today than
yesterday was inevitable; and we’ll have to get used to that for the rest of
their visit – especially when the family is home for the holiday weekend. We did get to work on new joke material for
May tonight at dinner, and I’m a bit surprised that Ethan didn’t mention that,
but then I had more fun with that this time around than he did; so maybe he was
just leaving that bit of news for me to write about instead of including it in
his report.
For the record, I’ve never thought of the
lab as something that could be worked into jokes about our little town being an
alternate universe or hidden base of operations for an alien invasion, but we
are having fun with the jokes; so I hope that Cassie will not want to pay us
back for our contributions when it’s our turn to go to college. Cassie and Michael are at Rowen’s house too
as I’m writing this; and they went there after their work at the Inn so that
they could spend some time with Rowen’s family.
That might be their only chance to do that while home this week, since
they’ll want to spend time with Michael’s parents while they’re off on Monday
and Tuesday; and then we’ll all be busy with the Thanksgiving holiday fun after
that. I don’t know how much time we’ll
get to spend with them while they’re busy with other commitments, but we’re
going to be busy too, and I should get some rest tonight while I can; so I
guess that’s all I have for tonight too.
There will be extra fun and news to write about this week; so stay tuned
to this journal ‘channel’ for all of the latest and greatest holiday adventure
reports.
