Ethan:
We’re heading into our first major fall
cool-down for the weather, so the news of the day for Ehlana and me is that we
decided to go out and play with our friends after school instead of working at
the lab so that we could enjoy the hot sunny day while we can. I’m not forecasting the end to hot days until
next year, but we are supposed to get a week of average fall weather heading
into the weekend; and some of us will miss the hotter temperatures – even if it’ll
also be nice to open windows and turn off the air conditioning at home too.
The thought that came along with that has
nothing to do with the news of the day, but I’ll go with writing about it
because I normally don’t; and electricity is something that’s a rather
important part of our lives – even if we never talk about it. Ehlana and I have been lucky to grow up in a
town that runs our electricity sustainably through the Solar-Wind Farm, and
thanks to some smart planning from all involved in the project; the
over-capacity pays off now while we can sell power into the grid; and our town
would need to grow a lot more than we expect to ever draw more power than the
farm can supply – though if it did; we have room out at that old quarry to
expand.
I’ve no real point with that blurb. It’s just a fact of life here; and I’m glad
that we don’t get our electricity from other generating methods – like coal or
nuclear energy.
Please don’t make fun of me for those
thoughts – I do know a fair bit about energy and know that even solar and wind
energy isn’t totally-clean because of the ‘dirty’ energy needed to make the
equipment and everything else that goes into the process before a single
kilowatt is generated, but we won’t be electrifying the world with Magi power
anytime soon; so I am a fan of picking the best options we have right now – at least
until something better comes along.
Maybe one of the Magi here can help us out
with that in the future and invent a new way of collecting or manufacturing
energy that’s even better!
Getting back to my update, it’s quiet
around here when both Dad and Cassie are away, so Mom, Ehlana, and I have
easy-breakfast meals; Tai Chi by the river is a bit-less-fun; and our school
day has only changed this year in that we don’t see Cassie and Michael every
day around the school. The biking on the
trails and play time at the park was fun; we had another easy dinner with Mom;
and then we went to the lab to play instead of staying at home to work. Mom used a time phase for her work with
Ehlana in the lab, but didn’t extend that to the entire building; so I didn’t
get as much work done in the archives as they did with Ehlana’s
experiment. I still got a couple of
hours of reading done and had fun; Mom had us home by nine o’clock; and it was
Jacuzzi time for two of us after that while I opted for a shower and quicker
bedtime after also taking Silkie out for her bedtime run around the back yard.
I won’t write about that next thought;
since the Magi of the future do not need an in-depth analysis of one of our
chores when it comes to cleaning up after Silkie! ;^)
That could also mean that I’m too-tired to
keep writing this and should just get to sleep now. We’ve had a good day and lots of fun with our
friends; so that’s really the only news that means the most for today anyway.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
Good job, Ethan.
I love my Jacuzzi!
Nightie-night, everyone! ;^)
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
