Ethan:
My first day in Grade Two started great –
or at least I thought so at the time while Naomi was hugging me in thanks for
my reaction to seeing her this morning.
She is beautiful, her Mom is a hair stylist, and she had a great
back-to-school outfit; so I don’t see the problem with my reaction – or with
enjoying being enthusiastically hugged by a sophisticated Grade Three girl.
The guys didn’t see it that way; and I’ve
been razzed about it all day.
Other than that, our first day of Grade Two
was fun – even though Miles thinks that it was awful having his Mom for our
teacher this year. That’s his own fault,
since Mrs. Sheldon would have switched classes for the year if he hadn’t wanted
her to teach him, but since his big sister didn’t ask her to do that; he couldn’t
take the hit to his reputation and even tacitly admit that he’s afraid of
having his mother as his teacher. Let’s
not delve into the lack of logic for that, since she’s been teaching him since
before he was born, and even if he admitted that; it wouldn’t keep him from
making jokes about the ‘situation’ he’s in this year. Ehlana and I are glad that Mrs. Sheldon is
teaching us, though; and we really like her a lot. Miles, on the other hand is both going to be
in for the worst school year of his life and be able to do whatever he wants
because there’s no way his mother would flunk him and have to teach him for a
second year if she held him back.
It’s a good thing that Miles has his future
career as an extreme sports athlete to fall back on; since the only other
career option that might work with thought processes like that would be if he
went into politics.
I so did not need that mental picture of
President Miles Sheldon! ;^)
Then again; maybe a half-pipe in the oval
office and watching the secret service trying to keep up with Miles while doing
Parkour through the streets of Washington might make for a fun improvement to
national politics!
It’s a school night, but while we didn’t
have any homework tonight, Mom is starting to get us back into our school
routine. We didn’t go to the lab after
school because we were required by kid law to hang out with our friends and
talk about our first day of school. Mom
did a Magi lesson with us tonight; we did some studying for our ‘real’
education – my doctoral studies in Information Science and Technology – aka advanced-level
librarian – for me and Biochemistry for Ehlana.
Yes, Grade Two classes are a bit of a
let-down by comparison, but we do get to play with kids our own age; so that’s
a lot more fun than hanging out with a bunch of college freshman teens.
Anyway, we studied; were sent up to bed a
little while ago; I’ve done some archive reading since then; and now it’s time
to get some sleep so that we can do it all over again tomorrow. Summer holiday fun is done for another year,
but we have a lot to look forward to this fall; so I’m happy and ready to enjoy
the adventures – even when that includes a lot of ‘learning’ that Ehlana and I
covered back before we could walk. Stay
tuned; there is sure to be more fun to come as we get settled into the new
school year.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
As usual, Ethan’s ahead of my for the daily
journal update. He also seems to have
covered the news of the day well-enough; so I’ll just add that I thought that
his hugging moment with Naomi this morning was adorable. That doesn’t help his reputation with the
guys – yet; but it won’t really be all that many years until half of them will
wish that they were as lucky as Ethan, and I’ve no doubt about that; since
Naomi picked him pretty much since the first time we met; and every girl around
our age in this town knows that – and likely won’t ever mess with Naomi whether
they know she’s a Magi or not.
That’s it for me. As Ethan’s already mentioned, we’ve had a
good day; I’m happy; and now it’s time to get some sleep.
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
