Happy Un-Independence Day, Mom and Cassie!
Happy Fourth of July to everyone else!
Ethan:
Tai Chi by the river was extra-special
today thanks to Brianna and her family joining us for the workout; and the fun
continued from there through breakfast and eventually on to the parade. The parade was as awesome as always; the
party at the park took the fun to the next level; and we had some time to play
games for a while before getting food for our lunches and going to watch the annual
co-ed ballgame. Our favorite parents
were playing against Violet, Dillon, and their friends and team mates; Cassie
and Miranda had their usual cheerleading challenge on the sidelines; and both ‘our’
team and Cassie’s cheer squad won the day – thanks in part to Dad’s
game-ending, two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning that came
soon-after the good-luck gang-hug he got from his youngest nieces.
Add in more play time, swimming, and games
during the rest of the afternoon, a family dinner, the dance, and the
fireworks; and that’s the news of the day – at least for what I’ll cover. As usual, it’s been all of the family and
friends time that means the most to us; and the ‘what’ we’ve been doing isn’t
nearly as important as the people we’ve celebrated the holiday with today. There is other news, but I’ll leave that for
Ehlana; call it a night; and get some sleep.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
Ethan’s referring to some teen drama with
our cousins for the part of the update that he’s leaving to me – which seems
silly when he’s already dating Naomi and doing that years before our older
cousins – or sister - were even considering dating anyone. Let’s get right to that news; and let him off
the hook for that little inconsistency.
First up, Kaitlyn set up a prank for her
father with help from Jeremy Green – a joke that was also directed at his
mother, Emily. They started working on
their plot after meeting up at the park last night; and Dad’s to blame for
it. He’d talked to Jaimie about her
father’s summer girlfriends when he’d been a teen; Emily Green was one of those
girls; and it’s convenient that Kaitlyn and Jeremy are about the same age. Their prank was set up while at the park
today; Uncle Blaine and Emily were amused by the ‘introduction’ while their
kids were getting permission to hang out together; and then Kaitlyn and Jeremy
ended up spending most of the rest of the day together – supposedly to keep the
joke going.
Yes, Ethan and I know more; and won’t write
about it here!
Jaimie has the other teen drama story for
our family; though the time she’s spent with Micah Byrd was quieter; only
included a couple of dances and some hang-out time with other teens; and didn’t
have a family connection that Jaimie knew about ahead of time – and possibly
doesn’t know about yet. Some of us are
having fun with the fact that she’s spending time with the younger brother of
one of Michael’s old girlfriends, but then Micah was just a kid back then; and
Lisa’s long-since gotten over Michael.
I’ll keep you posted on those stories;
since there’s a good chance that the week that Jaimie and Kaitlyn will be
spending with us could be more-interesting than either of them expected. The boys will say that’s in a scary way, but
they’ll survive; and the girls will get to have all of the bonus fun – including
the entertainment that we’ll get to watch from Zack and the other guys that
will pretend to be grossed out by any teen dating stories.
This is just day one of our holiday weekend
– and the week we’ll have with our cousins, so I’m going to wrap this up; get
some sleep; and be ready for the shopping and trail ride fun we have booked for
tomorrow.
Keep flipping the digital pages – I’m sure
that we’ll have a lot more to report again tomorrow night.
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
