Ethan:
The holiday weekend fun has begun with the
arrival of our weekend guests, and we’ve had some play time today too, but Mom
had Ehlana and I help out with chores this morning while she was busy with both
chores and pre-cooking for the weekend meals.
We’re currently waiting for Cassie to get home, and since we don’t have
any other kids here with us tonight; I’m getting my update out of the way now;
since there may not be much time for that between when Cassie gets home and we
need to crash and nap for the night.
There’s nothing worth writing about for the
chores – though we had another good start to the day with Naomi and Aiden – and
we cleaned up our campsite after breakfast and before they moved on to spend
the morning with their families. Ehlana
and I helped Mom until nearly-one; she set us free for a few hours of play time
with our friends that was mostly at the park and on the trails; and then we
were home again for dinner, a bit more work around the house, and the wait for
our guests to get here. This hasn’t been
a good travel day for anyone we’ve talked to tonight as they’ve arrived in town
– which is also why Cassie isn’t home yet.
Michael will be done at the Inn before she gets here, and after working
all day at the Inn; I’ll guess that he and Cassie will both be very tired.
I’m tired, and that’s just from a busy
chores and play day, but we’re going to stay up until Cassie’s home and we’ve
been able to spend at least a few minutes with her. The only news to add for tonight is to
mention that we have the Rice clan here for our weekend guests – though that’s
only the parents and grandparents tonight.
Chris and Martin are with their girlfriends and their families this
weekend, and while Dawn is going to bring Jillian here; they won’t be here
until Friday night or Saturday morning; depending on when Dawn gets finished
with her work at the airport. She picked
working Thursday and Friday; and wants to get as much time in there as she can
before heading off to college in August.
We’ll still get to have play time and some sleepovers with the younger
cousins this weekend too, but I’ll keep you posted on how that goes for
us. It’s going to feel a bit weird to
have the Fourth of July fun on the first day of a four-day weekend, but that’s
going to work out great for us too; so stay tuned – there’s sure to be a lot
more to come with our updates over the next four or five days!
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
I missed the lab time today, but we really
don’t get asked for much extra help from Mom and Dad when it comes to the
never-ending chores around here; and we still had fun – especially when we
could use our Magi talents for some of the indoor work. Ethan’s covered most of the news, but I’ll
add that we did get to have some visits with other incoming guests – for our
own families; and for some neighbors too.
It is going to be strange to have the parade and the rest of the holiday
fun tomorrow, but we’ll still have a lot more fun with that than when the
holiday was mid-week last year; and there really wasn’t a ‘weekend’ to go along
with the holiday at all.
Ethan skipped the rest of the news from
last night too, but maybe that’s because his mind is a bit fuzzy from all of
the cuddle time with Naomi – including the time that they spent together after
falling asleep while still cuddling.
Four in a tent wasn’t crowded, and the boys eventually moved back to
their own tent; but that didn’t happen until early this morning; and Naomi was
definitely happiest about that un-planned bit of co-ed camping. I’ll get razzed about it if I don’t add that
Aiden and I got some sleep too, but while we were close together and held hands
for a while; our co-ed napping was definitely not the same as it was for Ethan
and Naomi. Don’t take that the wrong way
– it’ll just be a while longer before Aiden and I are ready for that; and we’re
okay with following our own path for our relationship.
Okay, that’s all for me tonight. We have a big day booked for tomorrow, and
while we can’t go to sleep quite yet; it’s time for me to head downstairs again
to hang out with our family and wait for Cassie and Michael.
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
