Ethan:
We had an awesome canoe trip to the
whirlpool. This update is early because
we just got back; and I’m just taking a break before going out to set up tents
for the camping part of our adventure that will follow the barbeque dinner,
co-ed baseball practice and park play time; and a campfire. I’m also going to leave the details to
Ehlana; since at least one of us doesn’t want to spend any time on the teen and
tween drama. Pretending to be blissfully
ignorant of that sort of thing works for me right now; and I’ll just be happy
about having a really good day with our family and friends!
That’s all for me; and I’m getting back to
that play time starting right now.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
This really has been a fun day. I’m doing my update early too, but instead of
getting into the gossip that is already going on around town when it comes to
our cousins and the boys most-interested in them this summer; I’m just going to
skip it – except to note that they’re having a lot of fun and are very happy
too. That might change when it’s time
for them to go home – or after the end of the summer, but that isn’t something
they’re even thinking about today; and I’ll be happy for them too.
The paddle to and from the whirlpool is a
physical challenge for kids our age, but we had all day to make the journey; we
took our time; and had a blast while swimming and playing at the whirlpool. The whirlpool monster didn’t get any of us
while we were there; the picnic wasn’t too-scary because at least some of the
boys were trying to impress the girls in good ways instead of with some of the
scary games that Zack and Eli – or Miles and Joshua – like best. The trip home is always easier when the river
current is with us, so we made good time getting back; the older boys took care
of the extra canoes while we helped out with getting the gear back into the
house or elsewhere; and Ethan’s already mentioned that we’re about to set up
camp for the night.
The camping will not include the younger cousins
tonight, and while they’re not happy about that; the parents don’t want the
smaller group of teens and tweens to be responsible for too-many younger
kids. We will be having a major camping
night on Friday that will include more teen support, though, and there are some
junior sleepovers happening after the campfire too; so we’ll all have fun – if to
different degrees.
I’ll have the rest of the news of the day
for you with the next update, but need to get going again and to work on the
camp site and tent set-up; so that’s it for me too.
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
