Ethan:
We had a quiet start to our morning before
most of our cousins were dropped off at our house while the other parents went
to work and Mom was left in charge of all of the five-and-older cousins. Cassie negotiated a morning of having us – my
friends, Jayden, and me – keep Zack with us all morning for hanging out with
all of us this afternoon; so we had to tone down our biking and playground fun
a bit so that Zack didn’t try to do anything with us that he shouldn’t – even if
he could actually keep up with my friends on his bike or doing other things if
he was allowed to do that. We did still
have fun, though; and some of the guys just went and biked different trails or
did other things when Zack wasn’t allowed to do some of the things we do have
fun with when not hanging out with younger cousins or siblings.
Our friends might have been bored with an
afternoon of playing in our back yard instead of something more-exciting, but
Cassie and Michael made sure that we all had a blast; and the free food at
lunch and all afternoon was enough to keep everyone there and happy. Ditto that for the pizza dinner that Dad and
Aunt Leanne brought home with them so that we could have a quick meal before
Aiden and I needed to be at our ball practice; which is why we didn’t lose many
teens or kids before dinner was served.
I am not going to write any details about
this, but I will note that Jaimie has hooked up with a couple of girls her age,
and while that’s great for her; it isn’t as much fun for some of us to have the
three boys that are now hanging out with them around to add the teen drama to
the mix of our adventures today. Ehlana
will likely have more; so I’ll just leave that alone and move on.
The pizza dinner was great; some of the
girls were not really impressed with the feats of food from some of my friends
and those three guys hanging out around Jaimie and her friends; and then Aiden
and I went to our ball practice and took Jayden along while the parents dealt
with the easy clean-up and some of my cousins opted to go bike riding at the
park instead of coming over to the school to watch my practice or hang out at
the playground there. We had a good
practice; there was some more fun with our cousins after we got home that
included another round of snacks and a swim; and then the cousins were all sent
off to other houses for the night again while Mom and Dad got to work in the
office and Cassie and Michael watched a movie with Ehlana and me in the lounge.
Michael went home after that because we all
want to get some sleep ahead of our canoe to the whirlpool adventure plans for
tomorrow; which is also why I didn’t opt for another sleepover with
Jayden. We really do have a lot of fun
together, but when we’re hanging out for sleepovers; Jayden likes to prove that
he can stay up half the night playing video games. That can be a lot of fun too; but not so
great for keeping up with the play time the next day when we’re ready to have a
nap by lunchtime!
That won’t be a problem for me tomorrow;
and I’m really looking forward to a day out on the river! With being ready for that my top priority
now; that’s all I have for this update.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
We had a fun play morning at the park and
elsewhere while Mom and Cassie were busy with chores and work around the house –
and the boys even let us hang out with them for a minute or three here and
there too. I was okay with that, since
the only thing scarier than Miles when he’s trying to act like a caveman is
having Zack there to help him out with that – and egg him on!
I can’t move on from the morning fun
without mentioning that despite her disinterest in having a summer fling with
any hometown boys; Jaimie hooked up with a couple of girls she knows from
previous visits – and they just happened to have three boys that wanted to hang
out with them. Since that included the
two boys that they respectively each like best; the third was drafted or
volunteered to save Jaimie from being a fifth wheel. I’ll save you reading all about that ongoing
drama for the rest of the week and assure you that there is no way that there
is going to be any love connection for Jaimie with that guy. Hopefully, he’ll survive the disappointment,
but even if they manage to have some fun; their auras clash so much that even
Ethan will notice!
Just kidding, Ethan – I do know that you’re
possibly a bit better at that sort of thing than I am; but would hate to ruin
your rep by having anyone finding out about that.
Oops! :^)
Moving along, after working this morning,
Cassie and Michael helped Mom with making lunch for thirty; some of us helped
with the clean-up; and then they played with us all afternoon. We stayed in the back yard instead of going
out, but the games, a lot of swimming, and just taking it easy and goofing off
kept us happy and entertained through until Dad and Aunt Leanne brought stacks
of pizza home with them for dinner. I
was with the group that had dinner by the river; Naomi and I helped out with
the clean-up while Ethan, Aiden, and Jayden headed for the school and the
Garden Gnomes ball practice; and then we were with the younger cousins for some
play time at the school playground until after the boys were done playing with
their friends.
We had everyone come home with us again;
there was another swim and a bit more play time; a snack and drinks break; and
then the cousins moved on to their sleepover destinations for the rest of the
night. Cassie and Michael watched a
movie with us once we were on our won – while Mom and Dad worked in the office;
and then Michael headed home and we’re all going to get some sleep so we’ll be
ready for the big canoe trip to the whirlpool in the morning.
We have a bigger-than-planned gang going
with us for that – thanks to the five extra teens that want to hang out with
Jaimie, but I expect that we’ll still have fun eve with the added teen drama;
so let’s hope that works out for all of us.
It’d be a long canoe ride home if we do have any unhappy teens by then!
I’ll let you know how that goes, but it’s
time to wrap this up. We won’t be
leaving all that early in the morning, but there will be work to do first to
have the canoes ready to go by eight-thirty or nine; so we will still be
getting up early. Day three of our
cousins’ hometown vacation has been another success; so let’s hope that we keep
that going – and give them lots of happy reasons to want to keep coming back
for more every summer!
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
