Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - July 21, 2018

Ethan:

Jayden and I had fun last night, but it was tough getting my Tai Chi wake-up call from Ehlana this morning.  That workout by the river was really great, though; and then we were busy getting ready for the day; having breakfast for nine – including Michael; and then I needed to get to my ball game with Aiden and our Garden Gnomes team.  Jayden came with us; joined in for the warm-ups; and then he hung out with the guys watching the game while Aiden and I helped our team to win that game over the Pizza Goblins.  We were the away team, so we had to play through the bottom of the last inning, but we held off the Goblins; and got the narrow six-to-five victory.

We went out for ice cream at the Emporium after the game – though the Pizza Goblins had their treats at the pizzeria instead.  From there, we had time to play at home until lunchtime; I did a lot of swimming; and then we headed out to the Ridge River Ranch and an afternoon trail ride.  The cut-off for the trail ride was at Ehlana, Naomi, Jayden, Aiden, and me; so the younger cousins had a corral riding adventure instead while we were out on the trails.  That ride was really great; and a long, quieter blast of fun that was both exciting and serene experience in the great outdoors.  I wouldn’t say that was true for the corral riders, since they were fired up after getting to ride ponies or horses in the corral and then get to play with some of the animals being treated at the veterinary clinic.  That assessment was partially-based on how tired the adult-supervisors were as we got ready to head home; while our trail ride supervisors were all much-more relaxed.

We still had a lot of fun left to go in our day; there was more play time in and around the river after we got home; another barbeque meal; and then a ball game and play time at the park while Mom and Dad helped their team win their ball game against Sheldon’s Stingers.  The thirteen-to-nine score wasn’t really all that close after the fourth inning; and the Stingers only managed two runs in the top of the seventh when they’d needed at least six to keep the game going.  We had fun at the park, but then it was time for the campfire; and I really love our families and friends campfires – especially when a lot of the neighbors join in on the fun.  The music, stories, and campfire treats were all great; and we stayed up and played until after midnight.

Jayden was booked for a night with Violet and Dillon; they invited me to go along; and took us over to their apartment by about twelve-thirty.  We’ve had a bit of fun together since then, but we have church in the morning and a trip to Quarry Lake in the afternoon; so staying up even later wasn’t really an option.  I need to get to sleep now too; and Jayden is already out for the count; so I guess that’s it for tonight.  Our first full day of holidays with our cousins has been great; and that’ll just keep getting better with our Quarry Lake adventures tomorrow – and the buffet dinner at the Inn!

I definitely want to be ready for all of that; so that’s it; and I’m out of here and off to dreamland.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

I’m twin-less tonight!

Okay, it’s past-one; Ethan’s only over at Violet and Dillon’s; and we’ll both be sleeping soon; so that isn’t really a big deal.  After our busy day and with another one ahead of us; a quiet few hours at home will be nice too.  I do need to get started on my nap, though; so let’s keep this short.

Tai Chi by the river was quiet and fun.  Breakfast for nine was a bit crazy – as was sharing bathroom time with two extra girls while getting ready for the day and out of the house so we could watch Ethan’s ballgame.  His team won; Aunt Leanne took the cheerleaders out for ice cream; and then we had play time until lunch.  The trail ride this afternoon was great; so was the barbeque dinner; and we’re two-for-two on the day for cheer squad wins after helping Mom, Dad, and their team to win tonight too.

Add in a campfire that kept us busy and entertained until nearly twelve-thirty, and the clean-up that followed; and it’s no wonder that I’m ready to get some sleep.  I’m really happy that our first day of holidays with the cousins has been so great for them – and for all of us; and hope that trend will continue for the next seven or eight days!

I’ll keep you posted on how that goes for us, but that’s all I have for tonight – or at least all I have the energy left to stay up and write about; so I’m out of here.

This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live from what is now my past!
