Ethan:
Happy 7th Birthday, Ehlana!
We get razzed about it every year, but I actually
love sharing my birthday with Ehlana; and there are a lot of advantages to
being a twin!
Our day began with some cuddle time with
Mom; Cassie gave us one of our gifts each before we all went outside for Tai
Chi by the river; and then we got ready for the day and headed for the Inn for
the shopping day breakfast buffet that doubled as a birthday meal for Ehlana
and me since our birthday dinner is in the city; and we can’t have everyone
there with us for that. The food was
great; the trip to the city was fun; and then we – the guys – started out our
shopping trip with the fun stores before Mom got us started on the summer
clothes shopping. That went fairly-well
despite the complaints from some of the guys; and I only had one fashion moment
with Mom that was scary for both of us; and found out that I will never-ever go
shopping for underwear with any of the guys after that ‘brief’ bit of shopping
was a reputation-wrecker!
Lunch in the food court was good; and I won’t
comment on what that says about all of us that we have a lot of people from our
small town with a warped love of fast food.
Cassie and Rowen took over kid control for me and the other guys after
lunch so that Mom could do some shopping for herself; we picked up new shoes
for all of my friends and me; and then we shopped for water games and toys
before Cassie was ready to move on; and traded us off to Mom and took a load of
purchases to her car and our van. I am
not going to comment on how many of my friends have crushes on Cassie; and the
only thing scarier than that is going to be when they discover that Ehlana is
just as beautiful as our big sister in another four or five years.
We did a bit more shopping at the mall;
moved on to Wal-Mart for a supply shopping stop before we moved on to the
restaurant for dinner. Dad met us there;
the meal and birthday party fun was great; and then we watched a movie on the
way home. There was some work to do once
there; though that was only carrying bags up to our rooms and getting our
birthday sleepover guests to the second or third floor with their overnight
bags – and shopping purchases too; if they didn’t have those things sent home
with their parents or other siblings. Cassie
and Rowen did the pizza run; we – the guys – did most of the work demolishing
them; and then we pretty much came up to our rooms and most of the guys and
girls are already sleeping as I write this update.
Ehlana and I have both had a great day; so going
along with the shopping trip plan as a bonus gift for her was worth it; and the
actual shopping didn’t cause any permanent damage to my reputation with the
other guys. We have another busy day and
weekend ahead of us, though, so I’m ready to get some sleep now too. I’ve skipped a lot of details from the day,
but I’m sure you’ll eventually get the full picture if you read enough of the
other Magi journals from today.
Maybe I’ll set up a cross-reference for
that sort of thing in the archives, but that’s not high on my list of
priorities; and that definitely isn’t going to happen tonight; since getting
some sleep really is up next on my personal to-do list.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
Happy 7th Birthday, Ethan!
We’re heading to bed now; so this is going
to be a short update that won’t nearly cover all of the news today.
Our early-morning was really great with
gifts to open, Tai Chi by the river, and the breakfast buffet at the Inn. The trip to Crystal Springs was entertaining;
and then we shopped ‘til we dropped through until we went to dinner – except for
the fast food lunch and a couple of breaks for drinks or snacks. I out-shopped Ethan by a lot, but then he did
better than most of the guys; and Mom will have made sure that he doesn’t
embarrass me all summer with some of the truly-awful clothes that some of our
classmates choose to wear. I’m not a
fashion snob or anything, but sometimes; ugly is ugly; and it doesn’t matter if
those clothes were inexpensive or way-over-priced!
Our birthday dinner was great; the drive
home was at least twice as long as the trip to the city – or it seemed so in
our booster seats; and then we’ve wrapped up our birthday with a pizza snack
before we were all sent up to bed. A
gang of boys and pizzas are a scary combination; and I’m glad that we – the girls
– are on the third floor tonight; since there’s a chance that Miles is going to
explode in a while – and then that bedroom will look like the aftermath of
those old, exploding pizza-pocket commercials.
Actually, Miles will be okay, since we’ve
seen him eat more than he did tonight – including a breakfast, lunch, and
dinner today; but it really is still scary!
It’s also getting late; that’ll have to do
for this report; and now I’m going to crash and nap.
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
