This has been a very-eventful day!
Tops for the news around town are that
Josiah opened his optometry office in the med center; while Christina opened
her pharmacy. Those two new businesses
are the next big piece of the plan for the med center, and while we did have a
pharmacy counter in the grocery store; Josiah will be our first full-time
optometrist. There are other Magi
archives with details about this part of our plans, so I won’t go on about that
here; but I am glad that we’ve had a part in making that happen for our
neighbors and friends!
The top story from school isn’t that
awesome – unless you’re a teen or kid that has never had the option for
take-out food in your town – or pizza days!
The first one last week seemed different because it was happening on our
holiday weekend clean-up day. This was
our first pizza day for a regular school day; and we all had a lot of fun with
that – whether that was the guys having pizza-eating contests to the
entertainment that came from the youngest kids and their messier mealtime.
That wasn’t the end of the fun today. We had another awesome, summer-hot kind of
day; and that meant extra time outdoors – even when we were studying for our
exams. We had an optional study session
after school, but didn’t have much of a turnout; so the few of us that were
there multi-tasked some memorization work with biking the trails at the park
with the twins and some of their friends until Michael and I needed to be at
the Inn for the dinner shift. The hot
weather and being just a week-past a holiday made for a comparatively-quiet
dinner shift, but then Michael and I weren’t booked until close this time – and
we went on to the park to catch the end of the first baseball game of the
season.
Mom and Dad – and my aunts and uncles – are
playing for Landry’s Locusts this year; they played against Sheldon’s Stingers;
and they won their first game by a close score of six-to-four. That wasn’t a best-ever match, but then the
co-ed players are usually a bit rusty during their first games anyway; so the
win was a good start – especially when there is a new ‘kids’ team this year
that Violet, Dillon, Jake, Stephanie, Josiah, and Christina will be playing on
with a bunch of their friends.
After the game, Michael and I were in
charge of the twins, Naomi, Aiden, and our cousins; and that’s turned into a
sleepover at our house – and that’s indoors because there are thunderstorms
expected overnight. My aunts and uncles
were happy to accept the kid-free night offers; and they all dropped off
overnight bags for their kids after going home and getting cleaned up after the
game before heading to Sheldon’s for the first post-game party of the season.
While Michael is going to stay here tonight
too, we won’t be having a sofa sleepover.
I’ve got two junior cuddle buddies for my bed – Brianna and Faith; and
he’ll be keeping an eye on the boys on the second-floor – especially Zack and
Eli – since we ended up with Naomi’s little brother too. I’ll also have the other girls up here
tonight too – including Ehlana, Naomi, Leah, and Hailey. The other girls may just end up piled into
the lounge, but the boys are still gaming in there as I’m writing this after
getting Brianna and Faith off to sleep; so they may change that plan if Michael
and I can’t get the boys to give up the lounge and take their gaming portable –
and downstairs.
I should get back to that and help him;
since we also have to be up early to work the breakfast shift. We have a lot going on tomorrow again too –
including Ethan’s first ball game in the morning if the weather cooperates; another
exam study session; and both the breakfast and dinner-to-close shift. This entire weekend will be like that with a
mix of work and studying, but I expected that; and will deal with everything –
even if I don’t get much sleep and need to do a lot of self-healing. I’ll keep you posted on that, but I don’t
have anything else for tonight – or I do.
I almost skipped Allen’s 18th
Birthday. Happy Birthday!
That part of our school day was mixed in
with the pizza day fun; and I should have included that news with that part of
my report. Allen also had a birthday
party tonight, but Michael and I couldn’t go to it with everything else we had
on the go including the work and babysitting.
I’m sure he’s having a great day, though; and we’re all used to life
sometimes getting in the way of fun time with our friends.
Okay, now I really need to get back to
helping Michael before my cousins overwhelm him faster than the best football
defense he faced over the past four seasons! ;^)
Until next time...
...May the Magi Force be with you!
