Ethan's Journal - January 12, 2021

Congratulations, Michelle and Neil Ryan – it’s a girl!

Rochelle Ryan is the big news story of the day for the Johnson clan; mother and daughter are doing great; and I didn’t have any personal involvement in her life so far because Ehlana and I weren’t around for the one video chat that Mom did get to have with Michelle’s sister and mother.

That is much-happier news than the drama going on with our national politicians again this week.  I don’t really want to write about that news, but a second attempt to impeach President Trump is serious – if not for the reasons that the politicians pushing for it believe.  I don’t like what is happening from either side of this fight – especially when everyone should be working together to deal with the real problems we have with the pandemic, environment, and the rest of the crises around the world.  Don’t take that to mean that I don’t understand the seriousness of what’s happening in Washington – though the true dangers are about what kind of country we want to have in the future.  That isn’t a new question for any nation, but our Magi of the Light perspective is different; since we’ve been the targets of hatred for millennia – whether from Dark Magi or normal people.  When that hatred is directed at a few – such as with the so-called Witches of Salem and elsewhere; the antagonists usually win.  The situation is much more dangerous when tens of millions of people feel wronged whether targeted directly or not.

Instead of going on about this, I’ll move on; and hope that cooler heads prevail.  If that doesn’t happen; the other options are all bad for our country and the world.

After such serious thoughts, it feels weird to write about our own day here at home.  Tai Chi by the river was chilly, but we got to have Cassie and Michael with us for that; so we had fun.  The hot breakfast helped us to warm up, but then the weather was really good for mid-January as the temperature climbed into the low-fifties.  We had a good day at school; biked and played for the rest of the afternoon once we were set free for the day; and then it has been a quiet evening here at home since then.  Cassie and Michael were busy with his family for dinner and the evening – mostly so that they could spend time with Sierra before they head back to school tomorrow morning.  We are going to have a bedtime chat with them once they get home, but have kept busy with a Magi lesson and our own ‘real’ studies while they’ve been busy.  Ehlana and I wish that we could have more time with Cassie and Michael, but now that Cassie is starting her post-grad programs; we’ll likely see her less-often from now until she finishes her doctorate in about two-and-a-half years.  That isn’t a happy thought to end the day on either, but we’ll be happier after that bedtime chat with them; so I should just wrap this up; go hang out with Ehlana; and maybe play some music while we wait for them to get home from Jake and Stephanie’s house.
