Happy 16th Birthday, Emma!
I’ve had a busy day, and need to get some
sleep, but have a lot to cover with this update; so let’s get right at it.
Michael and I worked the breakfast shift; I
worked on chores at home for the rest of the morning; and then Michael and I
headed out to the Norton farm after he worked the lunch shift so that we could
spend a few hours out there helping Emma with celebrating her special day. Lucas, Rebecca, and Jenny – sorry, Jen – came
home so that Lucas could be here for Emma’s birthday too and despite the fact
that they’re getting ready for their final exams for the semester too. Rebecca and Jen are here for another reason;
so I’ll take that side-trip now and include the pizzeria update.
I haven’t written about it in a while, but
the work on their pizzeria has been moving along; and the finishing touches
will be happening over this finally month before they’ll be opening in time for
the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Michael and I will be helping out when we can; but their contractor is
dealing with most of the work – and Rebecca and Jen just communicate with him
by phone and video chats while they’re busy at school too. Michael and I got to talk with Rebecca about
the pizzeria a bit today; and the work is enough ahead of schedule that they
may be able to open a few days early – though they haven’t decided on that
yet. They’ll definitely need help when
they open for business, though, so Michael and I won’t just be helping out with
things like a final clean-up and getting the pizzeria stocked and ready for
business – we’ll learn how to make the pizzas so that we can help with the first
rush of business they’re sure to have with the first fast-food business in
town!
That’s going to be fun, and so was Emma’s
party; so we had a really good afternoon before heading back to town and going
to work the dinner-to-close shift at the Inn while some of our co-workers were
at Emma’s party instead. It would have
been nice to have the night off too, but we need to help out now because Michael
[‘s parents will be busier in a couple of weeks while we’re away on the senior
class trip. I’ll write more on that as
we get closer to that trip, but we will put in more time at the Inn now to make
up for the extra work the adults and younger teens will need to put in during
that week.
We had a busy dinner shift and a full Inn
for the night; so we had yet another late night and I didn’t get home until a
bit after eleven. Going out to the
Norton farm again was an option, but we were both just too-tired to go out and
play again – especially when we’ll be working the buffet-to-close shift
tomorrow too. That’s also why I walked
Michael home instead of bringing him home with me. A sofa sleepover would have been really nice,
but it’s time to save them up for when we’ll really want them over the last few
months we have before heading off to college.
Now that’s an exciting and scary thought! We really are down to just a few months
before we’ll be getting our townhouses at the first of August and then moving
away from home for the next five years!
Note to me – keeping trying to make more time for my family and friends
whenever possible while I can still do that!
I should also make more time to sleep, and
can do that now if I just get to it instead of rambling on with this update;
so, until next time...
...May the Magi Force be with you!
