Ehlana and Ethan:
Welcome home, Grandma and Grandpa!
Our day began with Tai Chi by the river
that was a bit chilly; but still warm-enough to be comfortable with jackets and
winter-weight track pants. We followed
that up with a hot breakfast; a good day at school; and then more biking and
park play time with our friends to round out our day before heading home in
time for a family dinner with our grandparents and the Carringtons.
During that meal, grandpa took the lead for
travel story time, and then we – the kids – ended up playing video games and
listening to music in the lounge while the adults did the family business
meeting in the office without us. Mom
and Dad went over everything with us after our guests headed for their homes –
and there were extra guests for that meeting; so we know that the biggest news
of the day happened while we were busy playing.
All of the details are available in the report from that meeting; so we’ll
only cover a few highlights.
Grandma and Grandpa had on-the-ground
information that is being used to deal with some problems in those countries
they’ve been visiting over the past two months.
Mom also has the lead for handling many of the issues related to
business disruptions being caused by the coronavirus – particularly when it
comes to supply chains and doing our best to protect everyone that works for
our family business companies. Add in
the virus-related need for charity help around the world; and that adds up to
doing a lot of good – or at least expanding those efforts to new levels – in just
a few hours.
That isn’t to say that we can save the
entire world from the impacts of the coronavirus as it spreads and affects the
lives of tens of millions, but we will do what we can – just as we always
do. That still doesn’t seem like enough
during disasters or other emergencies, but in this case; even trying to openly
use our Magi talents wouldn’t help more than a few people. Even if we could heal people of the
coronavirus – which we don’t know yet; the few of us that have the talent could
never heal even thousands quickly-enough to make a difference. Coming up with a cure or vaccine at the lab
might be a possibility, but while getting coronavirus samples might be an
option now that we didn’t have a month or two ago; that still isn’t something
that can just be done in days or weeks – even with Magi-power-assisted
research. It took years to get our cold
cure – and it’ll take decades more before we’ll have the kind of production in
place for those lozenges to be available world-wide.
We don’t want to drag this out or get
off-track; so let’s wrap this up. It
felt a bit weird tonight to be playing with our cousins while such serious
matters were being dealt with in the office, but while we’d have been happy to
sit in on that meeting, that isn’t true for Zack and Brianna; so we were
drafted to help out with keeping them entertained. We still had our studying and a Magi lesson
to do after the meeting, but we had a bit more time with our grandparents first
before everyone left; Mom used a time phase to help out with getting our work
done even with the late start; and then we’ve wrapped up our day with a short
music practice ahead of the twin bedtime chat and journal report – even though
we should have skipped the music time.
That helped us to wind down, though; and now we’re ready to get some
sleep.
It’s been a long day, and we had more fun
than we probably should have when our favorite adults are dealing with such
serious problems, but that’s often the way it is for kids; and we know it will
be our turn soon-enough. For tonight, we’ll
be grateful for all of our blessings; move on to nap time; and then get back to
the ‘real’ world again tomorrow.
This is Ehlana Proctor; live from the hidden
home of the Magi of the Light – and May the Magi Force be with you!
