Ehlana:
Ethan and I are having fun with our twin bedtime
chats and journal updates, but that has been replaced with girl chats last
night and tonight.
Before I get to the news since our last
update; a birthday shout-out to Kara Johnson needs to be belatedly added – if only
because we should have mentioned her 13th birthday on Friday the 13th! The Coronavirus issues affected her special
day, but only in that her entertainment options were limited; so her party was
kept at home – and with fewer friends.
Other than that, she had a happy day; and is getting a good start to her
school break too.
Back here at home, the biking and park play
time was cooler yesterday afternoon, but we still had fun; warmed up with a hot
meal with a handful of guests; and then it felt as though our lives were paused
while we waited for Cassie, Michael, and May to get here. You can imagine that the traffic out of the
city was a mess, and that was likely worse than normal; since the exodus from
the college was unplanned and a week early.
We kept busy with movies and video gaming, but our guests didn’t stay
and wait up for our collegians; so they only had six in the welcoming committee
when they arrived. Michael’s parents
didn’t wait up for them either when they needed to be at work early today; and
that’s part of the reason for why they ended up with us last night too – and at
least for the first week they’re home.
After a day of exams and a seven-plus
hours-long drive, they were tired; so we got Cassie’s car unpacked; had a snack
and visit in the kitchen; and then headed up to our beds. Yes, the girl chat still happened on my bed,
and we had fun with that, but kept it fairly-short; and then Naomi and I were
left alone in my room – or nearly-alone; since Mandy decided to stay because
she was already sleeping on my bed by then.
We didn’t get a lot of sleep, but Tai Chi
with a gang was fun – even though it was indoors thanks to the near-freezing
temperature. It stayed in the
mid-thirties all day, so that felt very cold by comparison; and didn’t seem
like a great start to our school break.
Having Cassie, Michael, and May here with us more than made up for that,
though, and that workout was followed by a special breakfast before there were
some chores to do for some of us. Naomi
and Aiden had their own family responsibilities for the rest of the morning, so
they headed out; and so did our collegians – though that was for visits with
Michael’s family and to do some shopping for Mom while they were out
anyway. Ethan and I got our chores
finished by eleven; we had lunch at home; and then we had some afternoon play
time that was only partly-outdoors with Cassie, Michael, May, and some cousins
and friends. It was too-cold for
playground time to be much fun, and we only biked a bit; and then came home to
warm up and hang out in the lounge.
Naomi and Aiden were with us for that play time, but then they were home
again with their families by dinnertime; and we only had seven for dinner – and
parts of the evening.
May was ready for a rest by then, but
Cassie and Michael did some more visiting earlier tonight; and then came home
in time for the bedtime snack and chats.
While they were busy, we watched a movie; May and I took turns in my
Jacuzzi; and Mom and Dad mostly did some work in the office while he’s busy
getting ready for his week in the city.
That’s where we did the snack break; and then the girl chat time was on
my bed again – and a bit longer than last night. We do still have church tomorrow, and it was
getting late when we wrapped that up ten minutes or so ago; so we’re ready to
crash and get some sleep – or at least most of us are ready to do that. I won’t comment on whether that will be
happening for the couples in the house! ;^)
Okay, that’s all for tonight. We didn’t get to do anything
amazingly-exciting today, but have still had a really good, happy day. There are a lot of people around the world
that can’t say that for any day right now; so I’ll simply be grateful and
hopeful that we’ll continue to be well and happy even when we could have some
challenging times ahead of us.

hidden home of the Magi of the Light!

Ethan:
By the time you get to this part of our
update for the day; you’ll already have most of the news of the day from Ehlana
– even though I’m writing this first. I’m
tired, though, and know that she’s still fired-up while having her bedtime chat
with Mom, Cassie, and May; so I’ll leave this job to her; cuddle with Silkie;
and just get some sleep. It’s been
another really good day, but we’ve had too-many late nights; and that’s caught
up with me.
I’ll try to do better with the next report –
after I’ve caught up on my sleep.
May the Magi Force be with you!
