Ehlana and Ethan:
There is a lot of news for today; so let’s
get started with the top two stories.
First – our school will be closed for at
least two weeks; so we’ll be studying from home. We expect to be taking classes from home for
longer than that because of our next top story of the day.
Cassie, Michael, May, and their college
friends will be studying and taking their classes online for the rest of the
semester – in-part thanks to a successful week of doing that through to
today. They still get next week off; and
then they’ll complete the rest of the semester online – including final exams. Some of those plans still need to be worked
out, but the first priority for them right now is taking care of May’s plans
for the rest of the term. That needs to
start with getting the rest of her things from her dorm room – which they’re
going to do with a road trip this weekend.
She is going to stay with us – possibly until August; since going back
to China would mean a certain two-week quarantine once there; and then an
uncertain return back here if travel bans aren’t lifted by then. Dad will deal with any legal issues if
needed; though we don’t expect that to be a problem.
We could always adopt May if needed! ;^)
There is more going on around town today –
particularly related to business decisions and plans, but those issues will be
worked out over the next few days; and we’ll wait to write more about that
until we get further along. We don’t
really need to start closing stores or the Inn, but don’t want to draw
attention to our town if that’s happening everywhere else around us; so we will
likely have some imminent and unprecedented changes coming. There really is a lot to deal with for that –
including the imminent spring planting season for our farms; and that’s an
issue for our businesses too.
Let’s move on from that; and get to the
report about what we’ve been doing today.
The temperature plunged to below-freezing
overnight; so that was a shock to the system; and it stayed near-freezing all
day. Tai Chi was a bit crowded – as usual
– with eight of us in the exercise room, but the rain had kept us indoors too;
so we made the best of it. Breakfast was
quick and easy; Naomi and Aiden moved on to home or bakery when we headed for
the lab and archives; and then we worked until lunchtime while Cassie, Michael,
and May were busy with their online lectures and assignments. We had lunch together; met up with Naomi and
Aiden again for the afternoon; and ended up hanging out in the lounge for most
of the afternoon. Dad finished up his
week in the city a lot earlier than usual; and got home in time to have dinner
with us. Naomi and Aiden stayed for
that, and Grandma and Grandpa came over; but everyone else was busy and we didn’t
do a family-and-friends fun night this week.
We did talk about plans for the
near-future, though, and while we couldn’t talk about some things around May;
there will be more going on this weekend while she’s away with Cassie and
Michael. Dinner was followed by the
clean-up that the kids and teens were drafted to do; there was a bit more hang-out
time; and then Naomi and Aiden headed home for the night at the same time that
grandma and grandpa left to go home too.
We took Silkie for her bedtime walk then so that we could do that walk
with Naomi and Aiden; and then we’ve had a quiet evening since then – mostly because
the parents and collegians wanted to head for their beds early so that they’d
be ready for an early start – and travel day for Cassie, Michael, and May.
Getting up early to see them off is
optional for us, but we’ll likely do that; so we should wrap this up and go get
some sleep too. We’d love to go along,
but they’ll have travel issues with all of the closures happening in the cities
already; so we’d just be in the way.
That’s also why they may try to do the entire trip in a day, but if they’re
too-tired; they’ll spend the night at the townhouse and come back on Sunday
morning. We’ll let you know all about
that with the next updates too; so stay tuned.
This is going to get very interesting around here now – and possibly
very boring too if we all end up stuck in our homes a lot!
We’re only joking about that last part;
since junior Magi Masters always have options for keeping ourselves
entertained! ;^)
