It’s double-update time; so let’s get right
to the news of the past two days!
Uncle Mark’s birthday was the news of the
day for my family; but not for Michael – or for me. We were only in on a bit of that birthday fun
because we had school and work to do instead; with the work being to help
Rebecca and Jen with the pizzeria! No,
it won’t be opening until the Memorial Day weekend, but they’re home now; and
started the final set-up for the place – all of the work that needs to be done
to get set-up, stocked, and ready for what is sure to be a very busy opening
weekend. Michael and I are helping out
because we can, and while the plan is to only be open on holidays from college;
that just means that they need to do well when they are open to cover the costs
of their lease and other expenses that they’ll have year-round. That’s also why free family labor will help a
lot; and Michael and I will be putting in a lot of our free time at the
pizzeria over the next month or so.
After that; we’ll be regular customers to
help them out on the customer side of the business; and hope it’ll be a regular
hang-out spot for all of the teens and kids in town – at least on the
nice-weather days!
Speaking of the weather, we’ve had a mix of
hot, sunny, cloudy, and stormy over the past two days, but the rain and storms
rolled in and out of town very quickly; so it wasn’t a problem for us with the
work at the pizzeria or anything else we’re doing. Michael and I haven’t gotten to go out and
play in the sunshine very much, but we did have visits for baseball practices
for the twins on Monday and Tuesday in addition to the work and practices. On Monday, we had a little picnic dinner
break while catching part of Ethan’s practice; and we did the same for Ehlana’s
practice on Tuesday – except that was between band and teen praise team
practices. On Monday night, we worked at
the pizzeria until eleven; and we could only put in a couple of hours there
tonight after we were done at the church.
That might seem late for Rebecca and Jen, but Jen prefers to sleep in
and work late; and they’ll need to get used to that anyway; since the pizzeria
will be open from eleven in the morning until late-evening or early morning
depending on the day of the week.
Okay, let’s move on to the rest of the
news. For Monday, that included an early
start to the day to see Dad on his way to the city. Tai Chi by the river was fun; and we – the kids
and teens – stopped in to wish Uncle Mark a happy birthday while collecting
Naomi and Aiden for the walk to school.
The school work is winding down as we’re being allowed time to finish up
last projects and assignments ahead of the start of final exam review that will
start next week. The ‘what’ we’re doing
at the pizzeria isn’t exciting, but Michael and I are having fun; and it’s been
great to spend a bit of time with Rebecca and Jen.
Side-trip: Jen is single, and on the
lookout for her next summer fling! I’m not
sure how she’ll manage that along with opening a new business that she’ll need
to work at for seven days a week for most of the summer at least for this first
year, but she seems sure that she’ll be able to do that; and has had fun
talking with Rebecca and me about checking out the summer construction crews
and staff at Quarry Lake in search of her next ‘Mr. Right-for-Now’ boyfriend.
I am so glad that I have only dated Michael
– even if Jen thinks that I’m nuts to be a one-man kind of girl! ;^)
Moving along, we had a normal morning
today; more school work wrap-up time in our classes all day; and we’re getting
ready for Memorial Day weekend with band and the teen praise team. We’re pretty much ready for both that service
and the parade, and once we’re past Memorial Day; Michael and I will likely be
done with the concert band because we’re due for working with the praise team
for the Fourth of July parade this year and won’t need to practice with the
band in June to get ready for that parade.
The work at the pizzeria after practice at the church meant a late start
to my bedtime work and studying, but Michael and I didn’t have any homework to
do; and I used a time phase to keep up with all of the computing that needed to
get done tonight.
That has meant yet another late night with
more than twenty-four hours in my day; which is why I’m past-ready to crash and
nap now. The busy is going to keep going
from here; and I expect to have a lot of late nights now that will likely go
straight on through to the end of the school year – or at least until we’re
done exams. I don’t want to think about
that being down to weeks now instead of months, and don’t really want to think
at all when sleeping will be so much nicer; so that’s all I have for the news
of the past two days.
Until next time...
...May the Magi Force be with you!
