Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - October 27, 2018

Ethan:

The top news of the day around here is the Haunted Halloween Walk, but let’s start from the end of our last update; and try to keep this report in order from there.

Watching a couple of only mildly-scary movies last night was a lot of fun, and yes, that was partly thanks to cuddling with Naomi; we stayed up a bit too-late.  Fortunately, Mom let us have a bit of healing fun this morning before Tai Chi by the river; we had a hot breakfast; and then it was time for Naomi and Aiden to head home or to the bakery while Ehlana and I were drafted for another round of fall chores.  The weather was amazing today, so Mom and Dad took pity on us; we wrapped up the work by one; had lunch; and then we were set free to go and bike and play for the afternoon.  We did that with Naomi, Aiden, and some of our friends; had a blast at the park; and then headed home in time to have dinner ahead of the Haunted Halloween Walk.  Naomi and Aiden weren’t with us for dinner, but we met up with them for the walk over to Witch Falls Road; and we were together for most of the fun for the next couple of hours.

The Haunted Walk is the main event, and what everyone comes to town to experience, but there is a bit more going on every year around that part of the adventure; and most of the booths and entertainment raises money for local charities or is one of the fundraisers for extra school or youth programs and activities.  We started out with playing all of the games and joining in on the music and dancing in the street first because the early walks are usually reserved for the youngest kids so that they’re not out too late.  We also didn’t get Miranda for our guide this year, but we still had fun on the walk; and then we played a bit more before heading to Uncle Adam and Aunt Leanne’s house.  They’re hosting the babysitting services tonight; and Ehlana, Naomi, Aiden, and I are here for the night along with younger siblings and cousins.  Jessica, Patrick, and their friends are in charge; and most of the parents have already moved on to the Halloween party at Sheldon’s Pub.

I’m writing this while taking a short break, but I need to get back to the video gaming and Halloween fun that we might be up late with again tonight – especially if Zack and Eli stay this fired up all night.  Cuddling with Naomi won’t be an option with this many junior witnesses around, but I’ll try to do my best to help her with having a good night – by keeping Zack and Eli from bugging her too much.

That’s a tall order, and I should get back to doing that before Zack and Eli get bored and decide to play scary tricks on the girls; so that’s all I have for tonight.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

Other than the chores from this morning, I’d say that the one point that Ethan didn’t really mention is the fact that we’ve had a lot of fun with all of the family and friends play time today – and last night.  Cuddle time with Aiden isn’t the same for us as it is for Ethan and Naomi, but we had fun with that too – and the movies.  Staying up late now and then for fun reasons is nice too; and the bonus Magi play time for the healing this morning was great since we really don’t get to practice our healing on others very often – even if we’re only healing for fatigue.

Chores never seem to end in the fall, but we can’t really complain; since Mom and Dad do make that as easy on us as possible – and while ‘we’ were set free after lunch; Mom and Dad kept busy for most of the afternoon too.  That’s why I’m glad that they’re getting a kid-free night; and that they get to go out and play with kids their own age tonight too.  Maybe that’s supposed to be Halloween-scary for kids our age, but it isn’t to me; and Ethan and I are grateful to know that our parents have such an amazing relationship.

I agree with everyone that the Haunted Halloween Walk is the highlight of the night with the stories and skits that are so amazing, but I had a lot of fun with the games, music, and dancing; and I have no idea how Ethan skipped writing about the Halloween-themed drinks and treats!

The bad part of those sweets is that all of the kids here with us tonight are on a bit of a sugar rush.  That’s especially-scary for Zack, Eli, and a couple of the other guys with too much time on their hands and a bad sense of humor, but then Brianna is a bit fired-up too; and that’s scary in a fun sort of way.  Jessica and Patrick need some help to start getting the younger kids wound down, which is why I’m doing this update now while getting ready for bed.  Naomi and I will soon be having some cuddle time again tonight too – except that’ll be with Brianna and Faith instead of Ethan and Aiden.  That’ll be fun too – and might help out with keeping Zack and Eli from bugging us while we try to get things wound down here toward eventually getting to sleep.

That might happen for the girls long before the guys will be sleeping, but I’ll let you know how that goes with the next report; and just get back to having fun with my cousins and friends for the rest of the night.

This really has been one of those awesome, remember-forever kind of days; with the best part of that being the sharing of these Halloween adventures with our family and friends!

This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live from what is now my past!
