Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - October 18, 2018

Ethan:

Having the weather get just a bit warmer each day is nice, and we enjoyed the nicer fall weather, but it’s also time to remember that fall is here; and we need to get ready for the cool-down to winter.

That has nothing to do with why Ehlana and I worked at the lab after school instead of going out to pay with our friends – that was because we had game night at the Inn after dinner; so we only had the one chance to be at the lab today – or skip it.  Ehlana’s having too much fun with her experiments; and it was her call to make tonight.  I was happy to spend that time in the archives; so it was no sacrifice for me.

We had a slightly-warmer start to our day too, so we went outdoors for Tai Chi; Mom went with a hot but easy breakfast; and then Ehlana and I had a good day at school that included some afternoon outdoors time.  The lab time was comparatively-short; we had an easy-dinner with Mom; and then went for a walk that eventually took us to the Inn for the gaming fun.  Mom was partnered with Miranda, and since I don’t mention it very often; I’ll add that Jacob does always manage to find another game night partner when Miranda cuts him loose because she only gets one chance a month to win the senior game night title.  I agree with Cassie on that one; and think that she always wins the rest of the time while having fun with her husband instead, but then that’s a scary thought to take any further; so I won’t go there. ;^)

We had fun at the Inn, and they did win that championship, but then Mom brought us home; did a Magi lesson with us; and then sent us upstairs to have baths before bed instead of letting us do any bonus studying tonight.  We do have a fall clean-up day coming on Saturday that will include setting up for Halloween, so I’m okay with that; and it’s late-enough already.  There’s one more day at school; Dad will be home tomorrow night; and then we’ll have a busy weekend.  That might end up being more work than play, but then we do have all of the Halloween fun coming up after that; so getting the work done too is just part of life – even for junior Magi Masters.

So is getting sleep when needed; and that’s where I’m going next – starting right now.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

Ethan has the news covered for today – and he was just stating a fact that the play time at the lab was my choice today; so that wasn’t an attempt to blame me for anything.

My addition to this report is a comment or three about our end of Dad’s week in the city.  We don’t write about it much because it’s like brushing our hair or teeth on the ‘normal’ scale for us, but we do talk with Dad every day when he’s away – and usually more than once a day.  Most of the time, that’s phone or vid-chats, but we have regular telepathic chats that are more-special thanks to the empathy that goes along with doing that; and I shouldn’t ever take that for granted.  Ethan, Cassie, and I are truly blessed to have such an amazing relationship with our parents – which is why even being apart geographically isn’t as hard as it would be if we didn’t have these links to each other.

That said, I’ll still be glad to have Dad home again tomorrow, and I want to be rested up and ready to spend time with him this weekend; so that’s all I have for tonight too.

This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live from what is now my past!
