Ethan:
We’ve had another cooler day; that didn’t
keep us from going to the park after school and watching the festival set-up;
which is still going on as I write this because everything needs to be done by
morning. That was the fun highlight of
our day, but we had game night at the Inn after dinner; a Magi lesson with Mom
after we got home; and bath time after that ahead of our first day at the
festival tomorrow.
That’s a good reason to wrap this up – so that
I can be rested up for tomorrow as well as clean; so that’s all I have for
today.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
I need to get some sleep, but Ethan’s
obviously tired; so I’ll add in a bit more of the news for today.
First, Tai Chi by the river was chilly this
morning thanks to that cooler weather; and the heat has been turned on at the
school for the first time since spring.
We didn’t have much outdoor time at school, but then we were working in
our classes more ahead of the festival and extra day off from ‘real’
studies. The park entertainment included
some of our friends who shall not be singled out annoying some of the carnival
ride workers by getting underfoot; so Ethan and Aiden used Naomi and me to move
our group of friends around and divert them as much as possible so that they
didn’t have to take any hits to their reputations with the other guys.
We needed the hot dinner by the time we got
home, and I feel for all of the festival workers; though most of them are used
to the outdoor work in all kinds of weather.
The game night news that Ethan skipped over was that Dad didn’t go with
us and opted to keep getting ready for his week in the city to try and cut down
on the amount of work he’ll need to do this weekend; so Miranda partnered with
Mom for an extra week; and they won the senior game night title – as usual for
when they’re teamed up. The Magi lesson
was in shielding tonight; and that was fun because it’s one of the more-difficult
lessons Mom teaches us. We wouldn’t
normally learn some of these uses of our Magi talents so soon, but Ethan and I
know that we’ll need that knowledge sooner than later – even when we don’t know
the ‘when’ or ‘why’ through what we sense of our future.
Okay, sometimes we do know all of that too;
but that isn’t something we’re even going to write about in our journals. We’re pretty good at looking into the future –
especially when we do that with Cassie, but it’s still a dangerous, unpredictable
talent; and we respect the risks and don’t want to mess around with that in any
way – including the risk of having anyone, including ourselves, trying to
change what’s meant to be by acting on foreknowledge.
That’s way-too-serious for this update, and
I have covered the news that I thought should be included; so it’s time to wrap
this up and get some sleep. We have
three days of fall festival fun to look forward to – along with getting to
spend two days with Cassie and Michael; so I want to be rested up and ready for
all of that fun!
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
