Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - August 8, 2020

Ethan and Naomi:

Congratulations, Joshua and Sally Parker – you’re married!

We’ve saved up writing about our favorite news for today just because we think that’s fun.  Aiden and Ehlana are on a date for that wedding because he and Sally are cousins through his Mom; all of the Reynolds’ clan is at the wedding today; and Aiden was allowed a plus-one – probably for the entertainment value too; since that likely wasn’t true for any of the other, younger cousins.  Cassie, Michael, and May were-are guests too, and that’s the big event going on around here – at the church this afternoon; and now out at the Reynolds’ farm; so it has been noticeably-quieter in town since the wedding convoy moved out from the church after the ceremony.

Ehlana can do a wedding update tomorrow, but while she’s been on her date; and we’ll cover our news of the day – which has been a semi-official date day too.  We should back up to the rest of the story from last night; so let’s start there.

Our non-plans for extra pizzeria pizza meals worked out pretty well for us because Aiden’s parents picked up pizza on the way home from the bakery – and had bakery treats both for dessert and breakfast too.  The family play time with the Drapers ended early because that’s the norm for his parents – even when they’re getting most of today off for the wedding, but we were awake until near-midnight.  The evening canoe ride, back yard fun, and bedtime snack were fun; and then the co-ed cuddle and movie time was a highlight of our day.

There was a fair-bit of running around this morning.  Aiden’s Dad was still at the bakery at his normal time, but we were up at dawn for Tai Chi by the river; the bakery treats breakfast was awesome; and then Aiden and I did some yard chores while the girls had early appointments to get their hair done before the salon would be taken over by the rest of the wedding-related customers.  Naomi had fun helping Ehlana with getting ready for her date, but didn’t dress up too; since our ‘date’ has been a casual play day.

We actually started out date first because we took a picnic lunch with us; and headed out on our bikes.  It has been much hotter again today, so we biked the trail around town; went for a long swim at the park before having our lunch; and then we ended up having our picnic on a bench with a view of the falls.  After that, we decided to bike out to the caves; explored one of them for a half-hour or so; and then decided to head home for another swim.  We were home for dinner too, but while Mom and Dad had that meal with some friends; we had a romantic dinner-for-two in the lounge.  That was fun; we followed that up with a family walk that we took Silkie along for that included a half-dozen neighbor visits; and then we wrapped up our outdoor time with one last swim.

Don’t get weird about this next part, but after a hot – in a temperature sort of way – play day; it was bath or Jacuzzi time for us before we were ready for our cuddle-and-movie time.  Naomi borrowed Ehlana’s Jacuzzi; enjoyed a long soak; and I had the lounge ready for the rest of our evening entertainment by the time she was finished her tub time.  Naomi is staying her for the night; so a co-ed sleepover is pretty much guaranteed.  We’ll definitely be sleeping before Cassie, Michael, May, Ehlana, and Aiden get home from the wedding reception, but we have set up the other side of the sectional sofa for Ehlana and Aiden for whenever they do get here.

Finally, our movie picks are Naomi’s choices; and we’re currently multi-tasking a Disney movie – Upside-Down Magic with writing this update and the co-ed cuddle time.  The movie is probably funnier for Magi than anyone else, but then that’s true for most movies that involve magic of any kind.  We can still be entertained by even the most-improbable Hollywood imaginings, and the only way that’s really different from anyone else is in that our actual Magi talents would be considered just as unbelievable to normal people.

That’s pretty much all we have for tonight, and we’re ready to wrap this up and enjoy the rest of our cuddle-and-movie time without the journal-writing distraction.  Stay tuned for the next update; since Ehlana’s wedding report should be fun!
