Ehlana and Ethan:
Happy 20th Birthday, Tim!
Our favorite teens won’t be anymore as they
hit their twenties! Tim isn’t the first
to reach that milestone, but is the first for our favorite-four
collegians. They’re going to have a fun
weekend and celebration for him – much better than the past two years when they
were already into their first week of classes.
We might not want any of the details from their weekend plans, but you
can get that information elsewhere in the archives; so we’ll just move on to
our news of the day.
Mom had us work on our weekly chores today
instead of tomorrow, so after Tai Chi and breakfast; we got right to work; and
spent the entire morning doing gardening and the rest of the outdoor work –
mostly so that Dad wouldn’t need to do that tomorrow after a busy week in the
city. We had the usual help from Ryan
Bassett for the lawn cutting; though we helped with the mowing around the trees
and edges of the paths, driveway, and gardens.
Mom had lunch ready for us by the time we wrapped up at around one o’clock;
and then set us free for the afternoon.
Naomi and Aiden were with us by then; we had that picnic on the dock;
and then we went biking for a few hours.
Swimming at the park and an ice cream stop at the Emporium were part of
that adventure; and now we’ve split up to pack overnight bags before meeting up
in the back yard again to set up a tent or three for a camping night.
The number of tents may change if we end up
with cousins or extra friends for the night; so we’ll keep you posted on that
with the next update. Mom is hosting the
family-and-friends’ barbeque and play night; so we’ll be on kid-control while
the parents handle the cooking. We’ll
include all of that news with our next report too, but that’s all we have for
now – and we need to get back to the fun soon anyway.
We should at least mention the latest
pandemic milestones – twenty-three million confirmed cases and eight-hundred
thousand deaths worldwide. Those numbers
ought to continually-astound everyone, but don’t; which is at least a part of
why we keep having new outbreaks as people get tired of the restrictions; get
complacent; and make mistakes. We won’t
go on about this; and will hope that we learn from those mistakes and don’t
keep repeating them!
For now, we’ll just move on; be happy; and
enjoy a fun night with some of our favorite people. That might sound weird, but isn’t really any
different than what we all do most of the time; since there have always been
serious problems happening all around the world that we often don’t even know
about – or that we don’t allow to affect our lives even when we are aware. That’s a commentary or rant for another time,
though; so we’re out of here and back to the real world.
