Ehlana and Ethan:
We haven’t really written about it very
much this summer, but baseball came up during our morning chores – because we
haven’t gotten out of them this summer for Saturday morning ball games; so we’ll
write about it tonight. While we miss
the game and play time with our friends; we’ll also admit that we don’t miss it
as much as we thought that we would – even when the alternative is doing
chores! All of that time might not be
better-spent either, but we expect that a lot of people have been finding out
this year that there are activities that they’ve been doing that they can
actually be happier without. That isn’t
a suggestion that we should dump baseball, football, or anything else in our little
town, but it is something to think about for professional sports – or the
big-money college sports. Yes, we
definitely understand the impacts that have affected all businesses involved in
those sports, but that shouldn’t keep us from making changes that could be for
the better.
Moving along, our dinner, play time,
campfire, and camping last night were all really great. The chores this morning included packing up
our campground – after Tai Chi and breakfast with the gang of kids and teens we
ended up having with us for the camping; and then it was time for the
chores. That took until a bit after one
to get finished; we had a late lunch; and then Mom and Dad were two of the
parents taking their kids out to the Ridge River Ranch for a trail ride or
corral adventure. Naomi and Aiden were
among the kids – though only her Dad came along for the fun while the rest of
their parents were busy at the bakery or salon.
The Carringtons and Everetts were with us too – along with some friends;
and we had a blast – whether on the ride or playing around the farm and the vet
clinic.
This, by the way, was our first time seeing
Christie in person since getting the news about her pregnancy. We didn’t get her for our trail guide all
that often, but she isn’t doing that job anymore; and will be working with the
younger kids instead for the next year or so.
That’ll actually be a bigger deal for her horse training, but she hasn’t
had as much work for the stunt riding – or their horses – during the pandemic
anyway.
Moving along – again, we got home by
late-afternoon – to our own homes; and it has been a quiet night here since
then – mostly because Dad still has a lot of work to get done ahead of his week
in the city. We had an easy-dinner that
included leftovers from last night; Mom did a Magi lesson with us; and then we’ve
had fun with music and a movie since then with an intermission between them for
bath or Jacuzzi time. That’s pretty much
all we have for tonight, and catching up on our sleep is an option; so we’ll
wrap this up and head for our beds.
