Ehlana, Ethan, Naomi, and Aiden:
Happy 5th Anniversary, Jake and
Stephanie!
We were not thinking about their special
day while writing our last report, but should have; since Cassie and Michael
have been involved with helping their brother and sister-in-law to celebrate –
particularly with the dinner and party that’s still going on as we write
this. That didn’t get in the way of our
fun today or last night, but has meant that we didn’t spend as much time with
Cassie, Michael, and May as we would have liked. Our adventures continue now, though, so let’s
get to the news of the day; and then we’ll get back to the camping and co-ed
cuddling part of our night!
First up, the barbeque dinner and the rest
of the games and campfire last night were all awesome, but our favorite
collegians didn’t get to share much of that fun with us because they didn’t get
home until a bit after eleven o’clock; and they were tired by then. They did have some fun to share with us,
though, since May drove them into town!
Yes, while they were away; she got her first-level driver’s permit; and
Michael has been giving her lessons while Cassie’s been busy with her summer
school classes and exams. May only drove
for the last hour or so of their trip last night, but that really was a fun
surprise; and makes total sense too; since there is a very good chance that May
won’t be going home to China anytime soon.
She won’t be letting global travel restrictions and requirements to get
in the way of finishing her education.
Moving along, our campfire didn’t end with
their arrival, but the break to help them unload the car took a while; and then
the campfire really did wind down from there – and was over by shortly-after
midnight. We had younger cousins in our
tents, so there wasn’t any co-ed camping last night, but thanks to Jake and
Stephanie’s party tonight; the younger kids have teen babysitter support; and
there is a strong chance that the co-ed cuddling happening in this tent will
continue all night! ;^)
As for today, Tai Chi by the river this
morning was more fun with Cassie and Michael – and everyone else that joined
in; breakfast was an adventure too – in part thanks to Zack and Eli’s feats of
food fun; and then we had some chores to do around our collective houses before
the parents took us on a trip to Quarry Lake.
Jake and Stephanie were taken along, but weren’t really chaperoning too –
they got to play with their friends while we played with ours. That wasn’t an all-afternoon outing because
our parents wanted us away from the campground by the time the lakes and
attractions started to get too-busy; so we were home again by around
three-thirty.
That worked for the volunteers that needed
to get set up at the Stone’s house for Jake and Stephanie’s dinner and party;
and also why we haven’t spent much time with Cassie, Michael, and May since
then. Before we continue; this is the
place to point out that the party going on at the Stone house likely wouldn’t
have happened today without the pandemic, since a mid-summer Saturday would
have normally been far-too-busy at the Inn for one of the chefs to take the
weekend off! We won’t have fun with that
story – especially as global cases of coronavirus pass eighteen million, but
there’s also nothing wrong with pointing out that serious crises can also have
the side-effect of getting people to reorganize their life priorities.
While that party has been keeping quite a
few of our favorite adults entertained this evening; we had parental support
for an early dinner before they moved on to that dinner and party; the teen
babysitters took over after that; and we’ve had a lot of fun since then –
whether playing games in the back yard, swimming in the river, or going for
bike rides and play time at the park.
The campfire started at dusk; there were more games, music, stories, and
even sparklers to play with after dark – which was a big hit with our younger
cousins and their friends. Cassie and
Michael led a short ‘raid’ on our campfire, but that was timed to help the
babysitters with getting the younger kids into their tents for the night. our campfire isn’t over, but is only for the
teens now; and we’re okay with getting to hang out together and wind down with
the cuddling, chat time, and listening to the campfire music that is continuing
thanks to Jessica, Patrick, Ryan, and others.
That’s about all we have for our news, but
before we wrap this up; we should mention that Cassie and Michael are still
staying here at our house while home again.
Their original plan to share time between our house and his has mostly
been changed because of May staying with us for so long too, but while that
might change by next year; we’ll just be glad for every bit of extra time we
get to have with them now.
Speaking of living in the now and being
happy, we need to get back to enjoying our co-ed cuddle time; so we’re out of
here! ;^)
