Ehlana and Ethan:
We have our journals back again, but didn’t
really mind having Naomi boss us around last night – especially when it came to
the cuddle time and co-ed camping! ;^)
Our top story for today isn’t about us at
all – it’s the start of in-person classes for Cassie, Michael, and their
friends. For Cassie, that means making
some new friends; since she’s starting her second term of her senior year; and
didn’t really get to make new friends during the summer session that was
online. We’ll keep you posted on how
that goes for her – and the rest of our favorite collegians, but while we’re on
the college subject; we should add a few notes.
The rest of our local collegians have
either returned to school or will do that soon – including the members of the
most-recent graduating class from our high school. None of those graduates had any problems with
their college admissions, but they were also given help from our teachers to
help with avoiding some of the problems we’ve heard about for other teens
because of the messed up end to the last school year. It seems that every college has different
requirements for attending in-person classes – or for doing online classes, but
we’re hoping that all of our collegians will stay safe, be able to continue
their educations, and still have a bit of fun now and then too.
Let’s move on; and get to the news for our
own adventures.
Starting from Saturday afternoon, the
backyard games, swimming, and fun before dinner was followed by a meal that was
scary for some of us as too-many of the boys needed to have eating and drinking
contests that might have fit right in on any college campus – except for being
kid-rated fun. Zack and Eli were in the
thick of that; and some of the teen guys were happy to goad them on – or join
in on the games. We didn’t do that too,
but tried to enjoy the weird entertainment while having our dinner. We were part of the clean-up crew for a
half-hour or so; and then we were able to have fun with the swimming, more
backyard games, and a bike ride on the trails at the park before it was time
for the campfire.
That was a highlight of the night –
including our contributions for music with Naomi and Aiden; we stayed up
too-late; and then we were eventually split up for the night; since we had
junior campers in our tents. That was
tougher for the boys; since Zack and Eli were not interested in going to sleep
even when it was that late; and didn’t crash until the wee hours of Sunday
morning. The parents were up fairly-late
too, but sleeping in wasn’t an option for everyone; and we didn’t really sleep
in – though we did get up a bit later than normal for Tai Chi. Mom and Dad didn’t join us for that workout,
but before we get to the news from Sunday; let’s take a moment to cover a few
highlights from the ‘adult’ party.
First, their dinner was at the Inn – at least
for the group that Mom and Dad were with.
The Carringtons and Everetts hosted the party after that, but there were
also rotating visits to Sheldon’s Pub.
That was entirely due to social distancing issues for the pub; and the
compromise our parents made to still have the party and also support the
Sheldons. We know that they had
campfires and a late night because we could hear the general noise level from
down-river, but nobody from our party tried to crash that one; and the parents
resisted the urge to check in on us too.
We’re glad that they had fun too; and will leave the party details to
other Magi to write about.
For the record, we could do that, since our
special gifts allowed us to sense more than we wanted to know about that party,
but we don’t even really want to think about any of that; so we won’t go there!
Moving along – again; Tai Chi by the river
on Sunday morning only included kids – and not all of our usual group; since
Zack didn’t get up early with us. Breakfast
was a major event, but spread out over hours; since parents and campers came to
life at different times too – including the parents that came over to help with
feeding the gang at our house. The camp
clean-up was spread out too, but we got our work for that done early – in-part
because we only needed to pack up one of our two tents; and the ‘camp counselor’
teens were still on-duty and in-charge of getting the rest of the camp cleaned
up and make sure that their campers were returned to their own families too.
That, by the way, was likely a nice payday
for those teens; and well-deserved – especially when it came to taking care of
Zack, Eli, Miles, Joshua, and some of the other boys!
Dad had to work all day on Sunday, so we
had a fairly-quiet day. We did a morning
visit to the lab after most of the campers were gone; had a picnic lunch at the
park; biked and played there; went swimming a lot because it was a hot day; and
then dinner was quick and easy too before we headed for the church to catch the
evening service. That was short because
of the heat; and then you already know that we had a co-ed camping night with
just the four of us. We took turns for
showers or Jacuzzi time between the church service and heading out to our tent
again; listened to music and talked while having the co-ed cuddle time; and
then we crashed into nap mode before midnight because we ran out of steam after
a few very busy days.
That brings us up to today. Tai Chi by the river at sunrise was fun; our
breakfast entertainment included a video chat with Cassie, Michael, Rowen, and
Tim before they headed for school; and then we’ve had a play day since then
through to now. It has been another
really hot day, so we’ve spent a lot of time in or near the river, but there
were bike rides around town and on the trails at the park with our friends; two
Emporium ice cream visits; and a pizza slices lunch at the pizzeria. Mom took a pizza to Dad’s office and had
lunch there – mostly because she didn’t want to do any cooking for that
meal. Our play time didn’t include
anything newsworthy, but we have had a blast; and now we’re going to have a
quiet night at home – and eventually back out in our tent for another co-ed
camping night.
Naomi and Aiden are checking in with their
parents now and re-packing overnight bags; but they’ll be back in time for
dinner – another easy-meal that we need to go and help Mom with next; so we
should wrap this up and get to the kitchen.
Mom is going to do a Magi lesson with the four of us tonight, and we’re
likely going to have a music jam session too, but other than that; we just plan
on taking it easy. We might go for an
evening swim; and then watch a movie or two as part of our cuddle time in the
tent – though watching the movies in the lounge is an option if it hasn’t
cooled down enough by then for that to be fun in the tent.
We’ll keep you posted on that, but don’t
have anything else for now; and really do need to get back to the real world
again – so we will.
