Ehlana and Ethan:
Our top news of the day is about the
back-to-school plan for September. For
the Kindergarten to Grade Eight students; we’re going to be back in September;
but part-time. Our classes will be split
in half; we’ll go every other day; and that’ll mean rotating between
Monday-Wednesday, and Friday one week; and Tuesday and Thursday the next. We’ll have homework and online learning the
rest of the time. The high school
students will be full-time, but they’ll do more social distancing; masks will
be required most of the time; and they’ll switch to part-time too if there are
any problems. We’re only worried about
one thing – having Naomi end up on the opposite schedule to ours, but we do
have teachers in the family; and have already mentioned to them that we really
want to have the same schedules.
The primary and middle grade students will
need to wear masks at school too, but the social distancing will be
more-relaxed – particularly for the youngest kids. There will be lots of other policies related
to the coronavirus – like enhanced cleaning of commonly-touched surfaces and
hand-washing; so we’ll hopefully continue to be safe from the coronavirus; but
could end up with fewer seasonal cold and flu too. We don’t want to get into all of those
details tonight. It’s enough that we
will be going back to school – even if that will be weird to have about half of
the students at school each day.
Since that was the big news story for the
kids and teens; you won’t be surprised to find out that it was the top chat
topic among our friends today. That led
to lots of fun, since some of the girls think that it would be a good idea to
have the girls attend classes together and have the boys go there on the
opposite schedule. That might get a
majority vote for our classes, but we doubt that the teens and tweens would see
that idea the same way – even if some parents might really love that option!
;^)
We had those chats with our friends this
afternoon because we were at the lab this morning while Cassie, Michael, and
May were busy with work and some hang-out time with his parents. They went biking with us after we all had
lunch together too; so we were glad to get some play time with them. We went for a swim too, but it was cooler
today – only in the mid-seventies; so that wasn’t a major part of our afternoon
entertainment. Naomi and Aiden needed to
be at their own homes by late-afternoon; so we’ve had a quiet evening here – in
part because our collegians were out visiting friends. That included Rowen and Tim; Rebecca and
Lucas; and Jen and Garrett; so they still aren’t home as we’re writing this
update.
While May was out of the house, Mom was
able to do a Magi lesson with us; we did some ‘real’ studying in the office;
and had a music practice. Bath or
Jacuzzi time just ended; and now we’re wrapping up our night with the usual
bedtime chat while multi-tasking this update.
This has been a good day; we’re happy to be going back to school in
September; and we’re also still glad that we have a month of summer holidays to
go before we’ll get back to the ‘normal’ education show we get to put on every
year.
That’s all for tonight, but stay tuned;
since that back-to-school thing could add some interesting adventures to our
schedule – especially if we get to have a shopping trip to the city! This year, the boys might actually be excited
about that possibility; since we’re all getting a bit tired of not really doing
any traveling at all this summer. We’re
also actually tired now; so that’s all and we’re out of here.
