Ehlana and Ethan:
Our adventures since our last report may not have included much in the way of celebrations other than the cameo visit we had with Dillon while delivering our best wishes and a gift, but we’ve had fun and been very busy too. That is also more-true for Ethan than for me, but he’s blushing just at that much of a mention of his sleepover with Naomi; so I’ll skip the details – and yes, Naomi and I did share some quality girl chat time today while trading sleepover stories!
After heading out from home yesterday, we dropped off our overnight bags at Naomi’s and Aiden’s houses while meeting up with them and some of our friends that were already on that side of town. We dropped off that gift with Dillon at the lab and then we hit the trails once we’d collected the rest of our friends at the park – along with a few cousins and their friends. Okay, Zack, Eli, and some of their buddies only went along to annoy us and try to keep up with the older boys on the trails, but we also spent some time with Brianna, Faith, Leah, and Hailey because they also wanted to take turns helping out with Silkie because we took her along in the trailer while Mom was away. Brianna also brought Lady along and caught up with us by the time we were at the lab; so the two dogs rode in the trailer together when not out and running around with us at the park. We added in a snack stop to the Emporium for frozen treats, and while we would have helped out if we’d brought enough money along, we only took care of ourselves and a few friends while Brianna used hugs and kisses to get her grandparents to put other treats ‘on her tab’ for cousins and friends that hadn’t come prepared for that stop.
I’ll admit that it still feels a bit weird whenever Ethan and I split up for a night, but we will start doing more of that as we grow up for obvious reasons; and that didn’t take away from the fun that I had with Aiden and his family last night. We got home in time for us to help his father with making dinner while his Mom stayed to close the bakery; Hailey helped out with the fun that included teasing us about our sleepover while already having a sleepover of her own set up with Leah that she headed off to after dinner – and before the clean-up that Aiden and I took care of as ‘payment’ for her unselfish act that left us on our own – or at least we would be after their parents headed for bed. We enjoyed the meal; our evening entertainment included an evening walk with Silkie that Hannah came along for while Nathan had some quiet time before his usual early bedtime; and then we watched a couple of movies; enjoyed some quality cuddle time; and got a decent night of sleep. Okay, there was some quality make-out time too after Aiden’s Mom went to bed too, but details are not required; and our level of that kind of fun is definitely not where Naomi is happy to go with Ethan – or take him while he’s happy to follow her lead!
So much for not adding more about their night; and Ethan is a bit on the bright-red side now. ;^)
I should at least add that parts of their night were similar to ours, since they did help out with cooking dinner and they had some outdoor time too, but in their case, they went for a family bike ride and had to deal with both Zack and Eli because the boys opted to be at Eli’s house for the night and do their best to annoy Naomi. That included drafting Ethan for some video gaming and hours of prank and practical joke attempts, but Naomi still got to have her alone time with Ethan too; and only had to trade that off with fewer hours of sleep. I helped them out with the tired this morning when they came over for Tai Chi by the river at Aiden’s house; we had fun with that workout too; and then split up for breakfast and to get ready for school before Aiden and I collected them along the way to our academic adventures.
We’ve had another awesome weather day with a high near eighty, but we’re getting some rain overnight; and it is going to cool down a bit for a few days. That’s why we chose yet another after-school play day with our friends that included biking out the trail toward Quarry Lake, but we also did that after a short visit and snack break with Mom at home; and that didn’t leave us enough time to try to do the full loop to the campground. The ride and fun with our friends was great, but we also liked being home with Mom with just the three of us for dinner; and spent most of that time sharing stories that did not include any details that none of us wanted to know about our respective sleepovers. This probably is a good place to mention that Hannah took care of getting Silkie over to Aunt Leanne before going to the bakery this morning; and Mom picked Silkie up after having lunch with Aunt Leanne and Claire – including the fast food that she brought for Aunt Leanne. They likely had some girl chat time too that we will be happy not to know about for any details; and we’ll just be glad that Mom had a nice trip that included a dinner visit with the Malloys, some quality shopping; and a bit of spa time that she did with Angela.
Ethan and I took care of the dinner clean-up; we went to play at the lab or archives after that; and stuck to the time limit that Mom gave us so that we didn’t get any added attention this week after already having one very late night there on Monday. We were home by a bit after ten o’clock; Mom did a Magi lesson with us; and then we moved on to bath or Jacuzzi time because we needed to get cleaned up.
That pretty much brings us up to now; so all we want to do before wrapping up is to add the daily Cassie and Michael update. They’re getting started on their Thursday in Russia, and they are getting an early start because they’ll be doing a day trip to Crimea for two site visits and one business meeting. They won’t be spending the night there, and while we expect that they’ll be safe-enough during the day; we can’t be as sure of that at night in the region when Crimea is a favorite target for the Ukrainian military. Let’s not take that any further, since I don’t want to get into any commentary or rants tonight – though the urge is building every day; and I always wish that we could do more!
Okay, Cassie and Michael could do more while there, but not without blowing their secret identity covers; and the power that would be needed to render all weapons in the region inoperative would be a very dangerous beacon to all of the Dark Magi families in Europe, Asia, and probably Africa too; so that would be a very bad idea.
That is a fun thought to elaborate on in dreamland tonight – picturing what those armies would do if they suddenly discovered that all of their military tech was useless, but then that would only last until new gear was brought to the front anyway; and that would make the effort useless for other reasons beyond those Dark Magi risks. Ethan and I don’t need to let facts get in the way of a little amusement, though, and that is all we have for tonight; so we’re out of here and off to have some fun with impossible dreams!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
