Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - April 8, 2021

Ehlana and Ethan:

The top news of the day is that game night has returned to the Inn!  Compared to that, a cooler, rainy school day and our afternoon adventures at the lab and archives aren’t very interesting; so we’ll only note that we had a good day through dinnertime; but didn’t have anything newsworthy happen while at home, school, or the lab.

Miranda was among the happiest to get back to weekly game nights; she started out with drafting Mom as her first partner in more than a year; and they won the senior title tonight while Dad and Jacob ranked somewhere closer to the bottom than the top despite the temptation to actually try for the win just to tease Miranda.  We had fun with Naomi and Aiden while there too, but didn’t win any prizes and had to settle for enjoying the entertainment and snacks.

The news we do want to write about tonight isn’t really about us at all.  First up, while we haven’t had any involvement in the wedding work, Carolyn Landry and Jeff Morris are getting married on Saturday.  Their special day was one of the top chat topics at the Inn tonight; and they will have the honor of being the first local couple to get married post-vaccinations with many of the pandemic restrictions lifted.  That, by the way, won’t be a completely-normal event, since there will be weekend guests that haven’t been vaccinated, but Carolyn and Jeff might have the biggest wedding in a year.  Their reception will still be comparatively-small, but we heard that they have added in some extra guests for that too thanks to Miranda and Stephanie making that happen for them on short notice.

Their wedding had us thinking about some of our other favorite collegians tonight too.  While Rowen and Tim will be home for the weekend; Cassie and Michael will not be here too – mostly because they’d previously been set up to be two of the ‘virtual’ wedding guests long before we’d put together the vaccine clinics plans.  Rebecca and Lucas would have been here anyway for the pizzeria and farm, but they will be attending the wedding too.  Our thoughts for them are more about the fact that they’re down to weeks until they’ll earn their bachelor’s degrees and be coming home to stay.  The new home that they’ll be living in on the farm will be ready by then – another project that we’re not involved with at all, but is also only one little part of our local plans that continue to be worked on without us.  That’s true for all of the college graduates we’ll have this year, and there will be a bunch of them either coming home with bachelors’ or masters’ degrees.

Finally, the thoughts about Rebecca and Lucas’ new home have us thinking about the ongoing work at Dad’s office building.  We haven’t written much about it, but the work has continued; and will get more-intense as warmer weather makes it easier to take that project to the next level.  We’re mostly-interested in that project for the added shopping and entertainment options we’ll have, but those new businesses will also offer some great opportunities for some of our recently and soon-to-be graduated friends and neighbors.  As with Rebecca and Jen’s pizzeria, the people part of that planning is being worked on already too, but that will be a bigger deal this summer as those new stores are matched with owners.  It won’t seem as though that’s what is happening, but that will, in most cases, be exactly what we’re doing.  Some people might think that we’re just picking winners and losers, but what we’re really doing is our very best to help everyone in our little town win to the best of their abilities.

One of us is currently getting a mental picture of a Magi-powered space exploration business on the outskirts of town, but we’ll stick with the bigger plan to do our part to take better care of the planet we already live on while we also work toward the next Ascension of the Light! ;^)

We’ll save up the thoughts about some of the other projects and our future plans for another night.  After getting home from the Inn, Mom did a Magi lesson with us; we came up to our rooms; got ready for bed; and have been busy since then with the twin chat time and some bonus computer work.  It is now time to wrap this up and get some sleep so that we’ll be ready for our last school day of the week.  It feels a bit weird to be wrapping up our first full week of classes in more than a year, but there is also so much awesome going on; we’re looking forward to all of the springtime adventures ahead – including for the coming weekend.  Stay tuned, and we’ll hope for an awesome start to those adventures once we’re set free for the weekend tomorrow afternoon.
