Ehlana and Ethan:
The weather today began with a very chilly morning, but near-freezing chill didn’t keep us from Tai Chi by the river. We followed that up with a hot breakfast; a pretty good school day; and an afternoon of play time at the lab or archives. We got home in time for dinner with Mom and Dad; followed the clean-up fun with a study or work evening in the office; and just wrapped up our day with a music practice; some bath or Jacuzzi time; and now our bedtime twin chat and computing – including this update.
We don’t really have any news to add, but it has been a while since we’ve done a pandemic update other than for our vaccine clinics, so since we hit a ‘milestone’ anniversary today; we thought that it was appropriate to reflect a bit on the past year. Twelve months ago, we were just getting into lockdowns – or it seemed so back then compared to now; since it was only been a few weeks of post-March-break home-schooling for us. The milestone we hit was two-million total confirmed cases worldwide, and that seems very different to us with our current perspective; since we had more than double that number of new cases last week. We also have seven or eight times the numbers of daily new cases; so being near the start of lockdowns last year and ending them now doesn’t actually seem to make much sense.
Sure, that doesn’t really apply to our little corner of the world, since we didn’t have any cases back then; only had a handful of cases between then and now; and won’t have any local cases now hat basically everyone is vaccinated. Yes, we could still get some imported cases from visitors, but we have plans to deal with that problem if it happens; and that still won’t be a problem for anyone that has had our special Magi-powered vaccine.
By the way – we will keep measuring for Covid-19 immunity for everyone we’ve treated, but while news reports have already been suggesting that annual vaccine booster shots might be needed for most or all of the ‘normal’ experimental vaccines; we don’t think that will be true here at home. We’ll let you know if that changes, but just the idea of having companies hoping that everyone will need to pay for annual vaccinations so they can make hundreds of billions of dollars in extra profits just motivates us to do more to find cures like we have for colds that will eventually put the worst of those parasites out of business!
We weren’t really planning on having a rant about anything tonight, but still want to add that we do keep an eye on the pandemic news from around the world, and while there continue to be signs of hope; we still think that it is too-early to declare victory anywhere – especially when we still don’t know any of the long-term effects for any of the vaccines while also knowing that getting everyone in the world vaccinated will likely take years – even if those annual boosters being suggested won’t be needed. That shouldn’t be taken as pessimism on our part because we do want the best for everyone, but we also see how differently the pandemic is being dealt with from the do-nothing approach to total population control; and can’t avoid seeing the obvious efforts all along that range by governments and other leaders to use yet another crisis to gain personal power and wealth at the expense of what is best for everyone.
That is definitely not a rant we should get into tonight, and we really don’t have anything else to add for this report; so, until next time...
